Vacation week, fawns, and working on the shop!

Vacation working on the shop!

Lots of green tomatoes, no blush showing yet.

Rose was out the door to work on preps on the shop doing some scraping and sanding.

Rose and I tackled a rotted sill on the back of the workshop, scheming as to what we'll do with the front and back walls.

Rose built a new window frame, we'll put glass in it and get it hung

We finally got some Rain this week, everything was turning brown, the corn field I drive by every day was 80-90% brown the entire field, one good day of rain and the next day it was fully green again!

We're still amazed going food shopping and just how many people standing at the meat case picking up packages of beef then putting it back in the case instead of their cart!

I have two Big RED tomatoes finally, should be ready to pick by Saturday.  I believe we have more than 20 tomatoes coming in on the one plant out back!  Tomato sandwiches YES!

James is stopping over on Friday evening!  We talked to Jason too.

Friday night I picked a cup and a half of blackberries,  they're stressed due to dry conditions.

I'm off the week of the 18th, we'll be working on the workshop eaves, and windows.

I picked the first two ripe tomatoes Friday evening!

Saturday was a work day on the shop, ugh, gonna be sore, up, and down the ladder a hundred times.  The eaves were a bit more complicated, like a puzzle as Rosey put it. We both managed to not fall off a ladder! We are 1/2 done with the flashing and fascia boards. it was HOT Saturday, we both had a good sunburn too.

We're seeing the woodchuck daily now Winston jumps up, he knows right where he'll be as he crests the wall out back.

The fawns were out Saturday evening

The Oriole's are still here and now the Yellow Goldfinches are here now, I saw a family of 6 or so chickadees with the young-ins flapping in hopes mom would feed them. We've got 4-6 crows coming into the deer-yard daily.

Rose has picked up several tiny toads and moved them to safety in the past week.

Oriole's were back this week, we heard and saw the Pileated Woodpecker fly by, I saw my first Great Blue Heron fly overhead Sunday too. Hummingbirds are still around.

Sunday... back to Home Depot to pick up more supplies for the shop. We hooked up the trailer, and dammit couldn't get the trailer lights to work, ugh, I'm not risking driving to Manchester with a trailer with no lights.  We'll have to strap the materials to the roof, we've done in many, many times before.  We managed to get two sheets of plywood, some 1x8" boards and some roof drip edge strapped onto the roof and we were off.  It rained just enough to piss off the grass.

Monday it's much cooler!  Yay, it'll be much better working temps.  We worked tearing the remaining fascia boards off just below the roof edge, removing the soffit boards in the process.  I installed a couple new soffits then we pot on the remaining fascia the whole length.  I managed to whack my thumb pretty good with the hammer, later I was moving the ladder over to finish screwing down the metal roof edge when an impact drill slammed me on the top of my head, we'd left the drill up on top of the ladder.  I grabbed my head, the drill'd only fallen a couple feet but it hit me like a rock.  I went to sit down holding my head, moving my hand there was blood, Rose went and got some paper towels, I only bled for 10 minutes or so, it stopped pretty quick.  We finished the fascia, and are about 80% done screwing down the roof edge.  I've got 5 or so more soffits to go they'll go up quickly.  I'd had enough for the day and limped up to the house to get a water and something to eat.

Fox out in the deer-yard Monday night

The Doe and her two fawns were out at 9:44AM on Monday

Rose picked another ripe tomato off the plant out back she thought Winston was eyeing it and thought he may try to sample it.

Tuesday we worked on the shop soffits nothing measured the same so we had to cut and cut a some more, we tied down some of the roof panels while we were there.  Whoever built the building should be shot...

Soffits out Fascia is installed
The back of the shop we start on Thursday, replaced the window trim, lots of rot
Almost done with Fascia on this side

Rose up caulking the roof edge

This side Fascia, Soffits, and roof panels are done, replacing the batten boards soon.

Still need to remove the old stove pipes and we'll move the propane tanks next week.

The pair of Redtail Hawks coasted around the field while we were out at the shop.

We went out to LaVaka's for dinner, it's vacation after all!

Wednesday we took a well deserved day off, we'd been working hard on the shop. it was raining at 4AM when I woke up.

I cooked bacon for BLTs with our own tomatoes, Rose baked a nice Chocolate cake and Brownies for dinner!

Pinged Jason to check in on him, he was supposed to get his wisdom teeth out.

James is going to stop in next week to help us relocate the two 100 lb. propane tanks from the shop up to the run in shed where the generator is.

We took out the baby gate, Winston is growing up...

Were back at it tomorrow morning

Saturday Rose painted the trim so we could roll the main area, she got the entire end peak done. Tomorrow more caulking and painting the main wall. I put on the flashing on the bottom of the wall.

Fawns were out in the evening

We've picked 5 nice eatin' size tomatoes so far, lots more green and ripening.

Sunday, Off to pick up more supplies and work on the back of the shop.

Going, Going Gone. . . . The Democratic Party Is In A Death Spiral, It Is The Proportionate Response To The Damage They Have Done To American Culture And Politics

Is it a surprise that Democrats would lie, cheat, or steal elections to gain or keep power? I'm from Chicago, so it does not surprise me.

Beto O'Rourke claimed that Dems will redistrict blue states in response to what Texas is doing. Apparently, no one has told him that Democrats have nothing left to gerrymander because they have been doing this for years.

Who knew that in all of New England, there are no Republican congressional representatives? Not one. Over 15 million Americans reside in New England. Yes, the region is heavily Democrat — but if one-third (a very reasonable estimate) lean Republican, that’s five million Americans with zero representation in the U.S. Congress. That stinks.

Interestingly, it is the Democrat leadership in states that are the grand champions of gerrymandering — Illinois, New York, and California — who are raising the biggest uproar about the Texas matter. Reportedly, many of the AWOL Texas legislators took sanctuary in Illinois and New York. Governors of both states hail the Texas renegades as heroes and express outrage at the dastardly Texas Republicans who drove them away.

Dragonfly Days

Dragonfly Days

I sprayed the Bees again...  These Yellow-jackets are tough!

The raccoons are sharing with the deer in the yard, they tolerate each other mostly.

Rose painted the first coat of burgundy on the shutters Wednesday

Who remembers this stuff?

We took a rotted window out of the back of the barn managing to not break any of the panes, we'll probably get a piece of plexy or glass to replace the 4 pieces in the current frame as the muttons are rotted.

Rose cooked up corn on the cob and some summer squash

The deer were out Thursday evening before dark

Both of the fawns were out with the doe

We stepped outside Thursday evening to catch a glimpse of the Space Station flying over the house, yup a white blip cruising across the sky.

Rose and I went to Hampton Beach Saturday evening, we walked the beach, and the boardwalk it's not the same though the shooting gallery is long gone, and the glassblower was missing. We had a nice dinner at Mcguire's on the main drag, the Sea Ketch was swamped with folks trying to get in.  Google can be frustrating at times, she took us 30 minutes out of our way before we realized it...

Rose noted the pond level is still high so at least we're not worried about water this year. We're finally going to get some much needed rain on Sunday.

Deeryard time lapse transition through the day

Sprayed the Yellow Jacket again Sunday night, frustrating.

The Blueberries are done now, the Raspberries looked finished as well.

We've got a bumper crop of mushrooms out in the field from that little bit of rain Sunday.

Bumblebees are plentiful this year so many on the clover you can hear them buzzing.

The Fawns were out Sunday evening

The Fawns are losing their spots fast browning up

It's gonna be hot the next 3 days in the mid to upper 90s

Monday evening before it was dark I checked the yellow jacket nest, I saw no bee activity!  Win! We'll still be careful when we work on removing the two remaining boards and putting in the new boards to surrounding the bed.

Monday evening in the Deer Yard with the kids.

Wednesday morning Rose said the trumpet vines were absolutely covered in bees!  Great to see, maybe, just maybe they are recovering!  I know the bumble bees love the clover in the field.

We're gearing up for another scorcher Wednesday.

I worked on the DR String trimmer, the air filter was full on dust and chaff, and a throttle spring was disconnected.  Running better now.

There was a tiny sparrow sized downy woodpecker eating the fruit cake I'd put out for the birds Thursday morning.

It's supposed to be cooler the next couple days.  We finally got a nice all day rain!

James stopped by Thursday evening, we had pizza!

Friday Rose saw the bees were back, ugh!

Saturday was a work day, I eradicated 3 patches of invasive Purple Loosetrife, while Rose weed-wacked the side of the workshop leaving a single stand of Black Eyed Susan. I mowed the cove, back corner of the field, then down to the pond finishing over where Rose was working and then the back hill behind the house.

Put air in the Tucson tires Sunday, dinner was hotdogs, beans, and pickels.  We went for ice cream later.

I sprayed the bees yet again Sunday night, then put a brick over the entrance. Fingers crossed.

Failed with the yellow jackets again, they moved their entrance.

Saw the first flying grasshoppers of the year and a katydid.

Every year usually the second week in August 4th a Monday was a dragonfly day, 500 or so of the winged terrors of the air swarmed the field gracefully zipping to and fro catching white flies and gnats 6" - 12" above the grass.  Eat'em up boys

Rose and I took down the screen house roof today, were going to take the frame down too.

The Perseids are an annual meteor shower that started in July, but astronomers expect the light show to be at its best between the evening hours of August 12 through to August 14th.

We saw 3 twin rotor military helicopters flyover the house Sunday

Monday Rosie ran hoses down to the workshop in preparation for pressure washing before we paint.  She took down the frame of the screen house today too!

We've noticed the quiet lately, one of us will say "Listen" silence, no cars, all the birds all the bugs went silent!

Wildfire Smoke Chokes Canada and U.S., Triggering Air Quality Alerts. Canada is battling more than 700 active wildfires across the country, roughly two-thirds of which are burning out of control, according to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center (CIFFC). Smoke billowing from the blazes has blanketed central Canada and the northern U.S., prompting widespread air quality alerts.

Fawns came out Tuesday evening

Saturday Rose and I pressure washed the workshop, we trimmed the battens so the 10" flashing could go on.

Sunday we're off to drop off some groceries for Mom & Dad. We hit the grain store, gave the dogs a bath in the pool and scrubbed down the glider.  We had an amazing dinner, steak, packet sliced potatoes, onion, and coleslaw YUM

96+ for the next 3 days, Ugh! Rose is working on the workshop prepping for paint in the early mornings.

86 Percent Of Americans Feel Stressed About The Cost Of Groceries, And Many People Are Starting To Really Flip Out Emotionally

62 percent of Gen Z Americans have no emergency savings at all…

62% of Gen Z have no emergency savings, nearly double the rate of baby boomers.
51% of Americans would use a credit card for a $500 emergency, with usage jumping to 70% among students.
Two-thirds of consumers have six months or less in savings, with Gen X the least prepared.
76% lack a credit card set aside for emergencies, relying instead on everyday-use cards.

Most of the country is living on the edge financially.

Democrats hate democracy — at least when they don’t get their way.

Imagine that...

The True Legacy Of Barack Obama Comes Into Focus As His Deadly Treason Against The United States And The American People Is Fully Exposed

Tulsi Gabbard Releases Reports PROVING Barack Obama DIRECTLY Gave the Order to Publish Russia Collusion Hoax Knowing There Was NO EVIDENCE to Back It Up

Since reality is hitting them hard right now, Democrats have retreated into fantasyland to live out their political dreams. You can hardly blame them.

Following President Trump's rollicking comeback in 2024, conservative media can't stop asking Democrats, "What happened to you guys?" Meanwhile, left-leaning outlets continue to dangle what they see as their last hope of defeating Trump: the Jeffrey Epstein case.

It's as if the Dementia Democrats forgot that the previous Democrat administrations tried to oust, imprison, and bankrupt that Russian secret agent called Donald, Donald Trump 045. Democrats came close to vanquishing their orange object of hate. Their conspiracy -- involving the intelligence agencies, political leaders, and the Obama and Biden White Houses -- succeeded in removing Trump's attorney-client privilege, stealing his executive immunity, debanking his companies, attempting to bankrupt him, trumping up felonies where none existed, and trying to imprison him for 100 years in an accounting case run by a judge best suited for a kazoo band.

They also sent goons to go through his wife's underwear drawers and staged photos of TOP SECRET DOCUMENTS at Mar-a-Lago. I know this because that's what the cover sheets read in font big enough for the FBI cameras to capture in their staged photos suitable for the 'Gram.

The moral of the story, dear Democrats, to the extent you have morals is, that if Merrick Garland, Lisa Monaco, Susan Rice, Norm Eisen and Marc Elias thought that vomiting up all the Epstein intel would help them and hurt Trump,THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IT when they tried and convicted Epstein's sidepiece and procurer of underaged girls for her sick boyfriend.
