Kale Soup (Mrs. Searle's Recipe)

Two degrees...  (2 degrees) Jeez it's cold outside.
Kale Soup (Mrs. Searle's Recipe), we made up a considerable batch today. Ok, Rose did..., I chopped the onions though...  The soup is one of our best batches to date.

I'm getting old, I was only able to polish off two bowls myself tonite for dinner.

The soup pot is out in the backyard cooling off. This seems to be the hardest part of putting soups, chili's and the like up is the time it takes to cool it down so you can bag it for the freezer.  We'll probably get 10-12 quarts out of what's left after dinner.  We got some real nice beef shanks at Market basket for the Kale soup, they cut them up for us and put out a tray for us to pick from.

Stay warm out there!

You just missed them Mom

The deer came in on Christmas evening. They  are still coming through around 4pmish, they'll dig up the salt blocks and the one piece of deer block left, they're partial to the deer corn too.

Turkeys are still raiding the bird feeders

Wild Turkeys are still raiding the bird feeders, these are some handsome birds.  We've close to a dozen that come through a couple times a week.

The Magician

A mesmerized audience.
 Concentrate...
If I stare at it long enough, and hard enough, that nut will un-thread itself...

Chili Day (BB, Before Beans)

Rose and I made up a nice 3 gallon batch of (Mild) chili this week.  We found some new peppers at the market. I nearly ruined the batch last year, as we desperately tried to tone down the heat from a single Mexican chili, a Thai chile, some chili powder, and a few shakes of red pepper flakes.
