End of April 2025

We heard the Oriole Wednesday morning, haven't seen him yet, time to get the Grape Jelly out Rose has the Hummingbird feeders out to be cleaned.

Another CME from the Sun, possible Aurora Borealis, Northern Lights visible Wednesday night.  Once again we saw no evidence here...

My team in Canada reports they still have 9" of snow on the ground which is still frozen solid.

Supposed to be 82 degrees on Saturday, the sun came out around 10AM we've got to get to the dump to get rid of the carport steel.

Sunday Rose and I sat out back and had out coffee the sun felt amazing, the filed is really greening up now.

Jarrod, Crystal and James came over for Easter dinner.  We had a nice ham, sweet potatoes, carrots and mac & cheese.

Sunday before Easter dinner Jarrod and I worked on the setting up the 5 panel solar array, still some tweaking to do stiffening the framework.

Jarrod came over Monday to help with digging a trench for the solar wire from the panels to the house, he had them hooked up before I arrived from work, Nice!

We talked to Jason on Monday he's started his training on the C17

Rose has been working clearing brambles and grape vines on the side of the workshop, the whole area looks great!

Rose is almost finished pulling the grape vines and honeysuckle over by the driveway poplars.  The side of the workshop looks great nicely cleared.  Our goal is to remove as much bramble as we can so we can mow everything.

We're renting the Skid Steer again this summer to assist with the big stuff, covering the rock beside the workshop moving a bunch of heavy trees, rocks, etc.

Saturday we were off to Mom & Dads, Rose put some Tick stuff on the lawn, we needed to hit the grain store for corn, a deer block and another lawn tractor, 2 tractors makes upkeep much faster!

Hit Home depot to pick up a new outside faucet the old one leaks, and some 2x8" boards for a ramp.  We stopped in the to Longhorn in Manchester for dinner, we had a gift certificate from work, this place is packed with a 30-40 minute wait every time we've gone there.  I got the steak tips, Rose had the prime rib.

Sunday I'll assemble the ramps, try and fix the trailer taillight on the right side that's refusing to work, it's a pain sometimes... then drive over to pick up the new tractor.

I still need to replace the mower blades on our older lawn tractor I'd sharpened them for last year but they're badly gouged up and need to be replaced.

We got the new tractor home without any issues along the way,  I made a couple runs up and down the deer-yard.

I got the ramps assembled and put away in the barn.  I'll use them again to get under the tractor to change the mower blades.

The Black Flies are here and they're hungry!

The weeping cherry on the side hill is blooming

The rain is greening up the grass that's 8" already on the hills behind the house and the workshop, all the tree buds are swelling. Lots of our flowers are coming up.  Pollen is getting high making us tired.

Rose got all the fans out making the dogs happy. We got up to 90 degrees on Monday April 29th wow, that's usually what we see when it's time to rototill the garden around May 30. We have a knack for picking the hottest day to do that.

Dads Plum tree is almost in bloom, soon...

The Daffs down by the old lady Apple tree are blooming
Daffs in front of Harry Lauder's walking stick and daffs with one of Rose's teapot creations
Rhubarb is up
Violets under Dad's plum tree
Daffs blooming everywhere

But important as closing the border was, that was just the easy part. The task ahead — identifying, locating, apprehending, and deporting the many millions of illegal entrants who rushed through that porous border and are now dispersed from coast to coast — is a mind-bending proposition.

Public opinion on the matter is pretty clear. Nearly all Americans favor deporting illegal aliens who commit crimes, and most on the Right believe that all who entered our country illegally should be deported. Trump evidently feels that way too, and he implies — albeit vaguely — that that’s what he’s going to do.

He started the right way. Trump’s “worst, first” campaign targeting the violent criminal element of the illegal immigrant population was overwhelmingly popular. Border czar Tom Homan pursued it with pit bull intensity, reportedly removing from our country over 100,000 in his first three months.

Jack Posobiec: 2022 saw the S&P 500 drop 19.4% This week in 2025, it’s down about 7% amid tariff announcement Now ask why the media didn’t tell you to panic about the 2022 crash – Post at X

There are moral asymmetries in politics today that no amount of gurgling and mewling will do anything to change. How leftists gleefully do everything in their power to lock up, destroy, even kill their opponents, then scream blue murder as soon as they get one-hundredth of their hate thrown back at them when they’re no longer in power—that’s one example that springs to mind. You’re literally killing democracy! Which is to say, doing exactly what we do, just less ruthlessly and effectively.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) yesterday expressed its full support for President Trump’s memorandum, “Preventing Illegal Aliens from Receiving Social Security Act Benefits.” This memorandum reinforces SSA’s commitment to safeguarding taxpayer dollars and ensuring the integrity of the programs it administers. “The Social Security Administration is dedicated to protecting the vital benefits that American workers […]

You no sooner take a day off than two nuclear powers, Pakistan and India are at it, and then some. Maybe you've followed the story, which goes something like this. Pakistani Moslems went Jihad on Indian, Hindu, tourists in Kashmir. They killed quite a few, in a typical act of Moslem butchery.

India didn't like this and started bulldozing mosques, good call, take note Texas, and deporting Pakistanis. Sorry, Moslems, you've got to go. Pakistan didn't like this and has apparently closed its airspace to India. Not to be outdone, India's closed the Indus dam to Pakistan, cutting off the radical Moslem country's water. Here endeth a 1960s treaty.

Why are Democrat politicians and judges so hysterical and desperate to protect illegal alien thugs, gangsters, gangbangers and terrorists?

Here’s another one…

Why do Democrat politicians and judges care more about foreign criminals who have illegally invaded our country, than they have ever cared about American citizens?

Armies of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) riddled leftists whined, moaned and cried online Saturday because President Trump wore a navy blue suit to the Pope’s funeral.  Oh my God, Orange man so bad.  Is there any facet of Trump’s existence that doesn’t send these deranged individuals into meltdown?

The 95% drop in illegal crossings at the U.S.-Canada border and the 94% reduction at the southern border are testaments to the effectiveness of the Trump administration's border security measures. By combining clear messaging, stricter penalties, and diplomatic pressure, the administration has achieved significant results. However, the ongoing challenges, particularly from sanctuary city policies, remind us that maintaining these gains requires continued vigilance and a unified national effort.

The U.S. cattle herd has shrunk to 86.7 million head—the smallest since 1951—driving beef prices to record highs (e.g., ground beef averaging $5.79/lb in March). Droughts, inflation and policy shifts have squeezed ranchers, who warn of a "national security threat" to food sovereignty.

Then they came for Kilmar Garcia (a.k.a. “Maryland Man”), and again I said nothing because it was a damn good idea. Mr. Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador who entered the country illegally. He is also a member of a criminal gang known as MS-13. MS-13 murders people for fun and profit. An earlier attempt to deport Mr. Garcia was delayed by an immigration judge who was concerned that Mr. Garcia would be in danger if returned to El Salvador. This is due to rival gang enemies who wished him harm.   They deported him anyway. (not our monkey, not our circus)  Democrats are outraged again, for reasons unknown.

Next they came for Tren de Aragua gang members. There is no dispute that they (1) entered the country illegally, and (2) make their living by committing crimes. Democrats insist we slow things down to give each member a court hearing of some sort. Democrats are silent as to what evidence such people could possibly present at such a hearing that should prevent their deportation. My silence means approval.

Next they arrested people who vandalized other people’s cars. This time the Democrats sat silent because they quietly approved of the vandalism.

Then they canceled the Social Security numbers of millions of illegal aliens who never should have received them in the first place.  Again the Democrats howled in anguish.

This country now has over 20 million illegal immigrants. This country is currently paying interest on a debt that increases at a rate of over a trillion a year, with the total now standing at over 36 trillion. Cutting waste, fraud, and abuse is the easy part. Deporting illegal immigrant felons is the easy part. Doing the easy stuff will not be enough. There are hard choices ahead, and the Democrats have made it crystal clear they will be of no help whatsoever.

Double Standards
“The American people should never have to wonder if the president, the cabinet, or members of Congress are making decisions for the good of the country or the good of their own bank accounts. It’s long past time to ban those senior leaders from owning & trading individual stocks.” —Sen. Elizabeth Warren miraculously rediscovering ethics every time Democrats lose power

Reality Check
“Decades ago, the United States was a global leader in the production of rare earth minerals. But, like virtually everything else, our stupid trade policies sent those jobs to communist China. And what our trade policies didn’t destroy, the radical environmental movement finished off.” —Gary Bauer

“China is at war with the United States. The question is, how will we fight them? Better, how do YOU want to fight them?” —Allen West

Islam’s modus operandi is as follows: when Muslims are in a minority in countries to which they have migrated they claim Islam is a religion of peace. Once their numbers increase they start to agitate for considerations unavailable to non-Muslims in those countries under the guise of obtaining civil liberties. When they gain power it’s, “Do as we say or we will kill you.” That is how a country loses its culture, its values and its traditions.

A report from the South China Morning Post has a lot of information. The Post claims that shipping containers from China to the US have gone from 40-50 containers per day down to 3-6. Even more alarmingly, they quote an anonymous employee of a shipping company as saying that the company is abandoning goods already on the water and giving them to the shipping company.

The bottom line is that between May 10 and May 25, we will see a dramatic decrease in the goods arriving to our ports from China. There will be some stuff, but not the abundance to which we are accustomed. To get back to the level we were before would take another 1-2 months from the time that an agreement is made, but that seems unlikely.

If you recall, during the COVID-19 pandemic, shipping from China all but ceased for a while. The result was that prices skyrocketed, shelves were near empty, and people panicked.

Our Crocuses are up and blooming

Rose and I picked up some of the wheelbarrow parts we needed, I ordered the rest on Amazon.

We're headed to the feed store today for grain, we'll stop at Mom & Dads

Three Raccoons came in to the deer-yard on Sunday AM around 2:30AM

Roses sister Carol is selling their house in Delaware and moving to a new 55+ community in August.

Monday morning it was snowing by 5:30 AM

Rose was out clearing Puckerbrush and Raspberry canes on the side of the barn Wednesday.

5 Deer came in Wednesday evening

I got a Montgomery Wards catalog in the mail, who knew they were still out there...

Lambs in NH in 2025 wethered lambs will be $275, ewe lambs will be $300 the last lamb we purchased 20 or so years ago in 2006 was $40.00.  We used to buy newborn bottle fed beef calves for $25 a piece, not any more.

Rose finished clearing Raspberry canes out by the big poplars on the side of the barn Thursday, it looks great cleaned up.

I took the Wheelbarrow down to the workshop to rebuild it.   Lot of the bolts holding it together were rusted solid and needed to be cut off.  I was able to get all the bolts out finally, and have one good handle I can use as a template to drill holes in the new handles. It went back together ok.

Rose told me to come out the back door, PEEPERS we've got peepers, yeah I know it's the simple things, the woodcocks were Reepping too. Rose said she'd heard them fluttering/twittering as they flew by her earlier, too dark to see them.

Woke up Friday morning to 1/4" of snow on the ground.  My poor grass seed...

I finished the Wheelbarrow rebuild, it'll be good for another 20 years!

Rose and I got the metal owl sculpture up in the front yard.
See related image detail. Zaer Ltd. Large Perched Rocking Owl Garden Stake with Flapping Wings ...

Saturday morning I woke up at 4AM to a good inch of snow with more coming down, by 8:30AM we had over 4" on the ground, damn we're going to get plowed... luckily we didn't! The snow was down to 2" by 3PM Yay!

Supposed to rain several times Sunday

The snow's all gone once again.

Rose and I worked in the barn resetting mouse traps, and we too the roofing off the collapsed carport.

Monday it's sunny, I'm taking the day off to see if we can get more stuff done.

It was going to be warm so I opened a couple windows in the house

We cleared the back hill of Wild Roses and Raspberry canes, these things are vicious, they have an uncanny way of grabbing your leg then they'll reach around to grab the back of your shirt as I twist in pain to disentangle myself, aargh pulling away.  I grabbed the pole saw and cut out a bunch of dead limbs on the apple tree, and more raspberry canes, they'll come back eventually. 4 trailer loads later...

We took apart the old carport pulling out the 24" stakes and later taking apart the screws holding the frame together taking it down to manageable pieces so we can get it to the dump. One foot in front of the other—softly, steadily, always forward.

It got up to 75.8 degrees on Monday we got a lot done, not all of it for sure but we made a dent, we'll both be sore Tuesday morning for sure, despite the changes as we grow older over the years the soreness is a part it, part of what we do on this ol' farm, It was a good day!

The tree swallows are pairing up claiming houses.

We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of the hummingbirds, much like the swallows she knows exactly when they'll be here.

The ants will be here soon enough invading the kitchen, we'll put out Terro and soon enough they are gone, comes with owning an old house that has cracks.

Rose was clearing more brambles today, poking out in the field noting what needs to be cleared.  Still lot's to do.

Oh I forgot to mention Rose has seen the Eastern Phoebe twice this week.

Image result for eastern phoebe bird

We'll put down the first of the Tick stuff this weekend, were still a few weeks away from mosquito season so mosquito dunks will wait a bit.

9 Deer came Tuesday evening, the herd is growing.

Peepers at our neighbors pond and ours were a peeping away Tuesday night.

Our Sparrow is back sleeping under the back porch in the evening.

It's spring for sure, everyone's out running around, the woods are waking up.

Northern Lights visible on Tuesday night, supposed to be 3 out of 5 potential, took a couple pics, not much to see around 9 pm we'll check again later. Back out at 10:30 pm...

FARMERS

They ran to the groceries, they filled up their carts,
They emptied the Hannaford's, Market Basket, and Walmart,
They panicked and fought and then panicked some more,
Then they rushed to their homes and they locked all the doors.
The food will be gone! The milk, eggs, and cheese!
The yogurt! The apples! The green beans and peas!
The stores have run out, now what will we do?
They’ll be starving and looting, and nothing to do!
Then they paused, and they listened for a moment or two.
And they did hear a sound, rising over the fear,
It started out far, then began to grow near.
But this sound wasn’t sad, nor was it new,
The farms were still doing what farms always do.
The food was still coming, though they’d emptied the shelves,
The farms kept it coming, though they struggled themselves,
Though the cities had forgotten from where their food came,
The farms made them food every day, just the same.
Through weather and critics and markets that fall,
The farms kept on farming in spite of it all.
They farmed without thank yous.
They farmed without praise.
They farmed on the hottest and coldest of days.
They’d bought all the food, yet the next day came more,
And the people thought of something they hadn’t before.
Maybe food, they thought, doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe farmers, perhaps, mean a little bit more.
-Anna Richards

DOGE unveils $400M unemployment fraud scandal: Toddlers, futuristic birthdates fuel outcry

Senator John Kennedy on AOC is pure gold:

“I consider AOC to be the leader of the Democratic Party.”

“I think she’s the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle.”

“Our plan for dealing with her is Operation Let Her Speak.”

So much for Democrats caring about immigrant children being separated from their parents, they just want those VICIOUS GANG MEMBERS brought back

The administration has not finalized plans, but escalating operations signal a more aggressive approach to combat cartels as a national security threat. The Democrats completely oppose all of this. How dare Trump try to put an end to violence in America, the flood of illegal immigrants, the trafficking of children in and out of the country, child slavery, illegal voting for Democrats, and the robbing of our social security system.

Democrats cherish violence. It’s all they have left. They tried to assassinate Trump twice. Elon Musk receives over 15,000 death threats daily just for figuring out how the Democrats have wasted trillions of dollars. No more laws and no more police, the Democrats scream. No more ethics and no more values for America, they demand.

Our healthcare system isn’t about health—it’s about business.

  • And in this business, harm isn’t an accident. It’s built into the system.
  • The more I uncovered, the more I realized:
  • We aren’t just patients. We are customers.
  • And we are all trapped in Big Pharma’s spiderweb of influence.
