 Mid April 2025

Our Crocuses are up and blooming

Rose and I picked up some of the wheelbarrow parts we needed, I ordered the rest on Amazon.

We're headed to the feed store today for grain, we'll stop at Mom & Dads

Three Raccoons came in to the deer-yard on Sunday AM around 2:30AM

Roses sister Carol is selling their house in Delaware and moving to a new 55+ community in August.

Monday morning it was snowing by 5:30 AM

Rose was out clearing Puckerbrush and Raspberry canes on the side of the barn Wednesday.

5 Deer came in Wednesday evening

I got a Montgomery Wards catalog in the mail, who knew they were still out there...

Lambs in NH in 2025 wethered lambs will be $275, ewe lambs will be $300 the last lamb we purchased 20 or so years ago in 2006 was $40.00.  We used to buy newborn bottle fed beef calves for $25 a piece, not any more.

Rose finished clearing Raspberry canes out by the big poplars on the side of the barn Thursday, it looks great cleaned up.

I took the Wheelbarrow down to the workshop to rebuild it.   Lot of the bolts holding it together were rusted solid and needed to be cut off.  I was able to get all the bolts out finally, and have one good handle I can use as a template to drill holes in the new handles. It went back together ok.

Rose told me to come out the back door, PEEPERS we've got peepers, yeah I know it's the simple things, the woodcocks were Reepping too. Rose said she'd heard them fluttering/twittering as they flew by her earlier, too dark to see them.

Woke up Friday morning to 1/4" of snow on the ground.  My poor grass seed...

I finished the Wheelbarrow rebuild, it'll be good for another 20 years!

Rose and I got the metal owl sculpture up in the front yard.
See related image detail. Zaer Ltd. Large Perched Rocking Owl Garden Stake with Flapping Wings ...

Saturday morning I woke up at 4AM to a good inch of snow with more coming down, by 8:30AM we had over 4" on the ground, damn we're going to get plowed... luckily we didn't! The snow was down to 2" by 3PM Yay!

Supposed to rain several times Sunday

The snow's all gone once again.

Rose and I worked in the barn resetting mouse traps, and we too the roofing off the collapsed carport.

Monday it's sunny, I'm taking the day off to see if we can get more stuff done.

It was going to be warm so I opened a couple windows in the house

We cleared the back hill of Wild Roses and Raspberry canes, these things are vicious, they have an uncanny way of grabbing your leg then they'll reach around to grab the back of your shirt as I twist in pain to disentangle myself, aargh pulling away.  I grabbed the pole saw and cut out a bunch of dead limbs on the apple tree, and more raspberry canes, they'll come back eventually. 4 trailer loads later...

We took apart the old carport pulling out the 24" stakes and later taking apart the screws holding the frame together taking it down to manageable pieces so we can get it to the dump. One foot in front of the other—softly, steadily, always forward.

It got up to 75.8 degrees on Monday we got a lot done, not all of it for sure but we made a dent, we'll both be sore Tuesday morning for sure, despite the changes as we grow older over the years the soreness is a part it, part of what we do on this ol' farm, It was a good day!

The tree swallows are pairing up claiming houses.

We're eagerly awaiting the arrival of the hummingbirds, much like the swallows she knows exactly when they'll be here.

The ants will be here soon enough invading the kitchen, we'll put out Terro and soon enough they are gone, comes with owning an old house that has cracks.

Rose was clearing more brambles today, poking out in the field noting what needs to be cleared.  Still lot's to do.

Oh I forgot to mention Rose has seen the Eastern Phoebe twice this week.

We'll put down the first of the Tick stuff this weekend, were still a few weeks away from mosquito season so mosquito dunks will wait a bit.

9 Deer came Tuesday evening, the herd is growing.

Peepers at our neighbors pond and ours were a peeping away Tuesday night.

Our Sparrow is back sleeping under the back porch in the evening.

It's spring for sure, everyone's out running around, the woods are waking up.

Northern Lights visible on Tuesday night, supposed to be 3 out of 5 potential, took a couple pics, not much to see around 9 pm we'll check again later. Back out at 10:30 pm...

FARMERS

They ran to the groceries, they filled up their carts,
They emptied the Hannaford's, Market Basket, and Walmart,
They panicked and fought and then panicked some more,
Then they rushed to their homes and they locked all the doors.
The food will be gone! The milk, eggs, and cheese!
The yogurt! The apples! The green beans and peas!
The stores have run out, now what will we do?
They’ll be starving and looting, and nothing to do!
Then they paused, and they listened for a moment or two.
And they did hear a sound, rising over the fear,
It started out far, then began to grow near.
But this sound wasn’t sad, nor was it new,
The farms were still doing what farms always do.
The food was still coming, though they’d emptied the shelves,
The farms kept it coming, though they struggled themselves,
Though the cities had forgotten from where their food came,
The farms made them food every day, just the same.
Through weather and critics and markets that fall,
The farms kept on farming in spite of it all.
They farmed without thank yous.
They farmed without praise.
They farmed on the hottest and coldest of days.
They’d bought all the food, yet the next day came more,
And the people thought of something they hadn’t before.
Maybe food, they thought, doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe farmers, perhaps, mean a little bit more.

DOGE unveils $400M unemployment fraud scandal: Toddlers, futuristic birthdates fuel outcry

Senator John Kennedy on AOC is pure gold:

“I consider AOC to be the leader of the Democratic Party.”

“I think she’s the reason there are directions on a shampoo bottle.”

“Our plan for dealing with her is Operation Let Her Speak.”

So much for Democrats caring about immigrant children being separated from their parents, they just want those VICIOUS GANG MEMBERS brought back

The administration has not finalized plans, but escalating operations signal a more aggressive approach to combat cartels as a national security threat. The Democrats completely oppose all of this. How dare Trump try to put an end to violence in America, the flood of illegal immigrants, the trafficking of children in and out of the country, child slavery, illegal voting for Democrats, and the robbing of our social security system.

Democrats cherish violence. It’s all they have left. They tried to assassinate Trump twice. Elon Musk receives over 15,000 death threats daily just for figuring out how the Democrats have wasted trillions of dollars. No more laws and no more police, the Democrats scream. No more ethics and no more values for America, they demand.

Our healthcare system isn’t about health—it’s about business.

  • And in this business, harm isn’t an accident. It’s built into the system.
  • The more I uncovered, the more I realized:
  • We aren’t just patients. We are customers.
  • And we are all trapped in Big Pharma’s spiderweb of influence.
