May 17th to Memorial Day!

 May 17th week

MEMORIAL DAY!

James stopped by last Friday and stayed for dinner

More rain coming in for Saturday.

The Turkeys didn't come back this week, just as well, they tend to crap all over the place.

Stopped over Mom & Dads, dropping groceries off, Nance said they needed a new dryer, dryers generally don't just stop working, she said the dryer was taking way too long to dry clothes. Outside I found a very clogged dryer vent screen, cleaned it out, should be good now.

Filled the windshield washer on my car, it's crazy that cars now tell you when its getting low.

I'll look for a new knob for dads AC unit, his knob is missing.

I did some mowing the front, side and deer-yards and a small section of field, it just started raining when I stopped.

There's still a lot of standing groundwater around, many areas will need to wait for mowing.

We've got thunderstorms rolling through at 8PM Saturday night.

Deer are coming in early evenings lately

Fox came through the deer-yard Friday morning early

Getting Old!  I'd appreciate it if this weather improved, the storms play havoc with the arthritis and bad knees and along with everything you love becoming a "classic," vintage, oldie, or retro.  I suppose it happens to all of us...

Worked on the big windmill in the field, bearings are gone for the blades, got the old bearings out, the new bearings I bought won't fit, remeasured, and ordered new bearings that'll arrive tomorrow.

Noticed 4 or 5 signs in Merrimack for various companies selling Mosquito treatments (Mosquito Squad, Mosquito Joe's, Mosquito Pros NH), these folks houses are in the woods, do they really believe they can stop mosquito's from coming into the yard? Anyone with experience?

Sunday grabbed the farm jack and chain, pulled a t-post out of the ground in the field.

Mowing is on the agenda this week

Monday evening we got the replacement bearings from Amazon to fit the windmill, they fit like a glove!  I got them installed pretty quickly with just a light sanding of the shaft.  We fed the deer and I put the windmill head back up.  We'll work on leveling the tower and securing the head better this weekend.

Pretty weird weather pattern other than all the rain, temps are 92 degrees one day and 43 the next.

Rose went food shopping Folgers is $15.99 now!  Wow

They're saying Thursday there's a Nor'easter coming in, oh great! Expecting 1.4" of rain expected with 30MPH winds...

An officially reported bird flu case in a human being has not been reported in three months. That is leaving scientists and the mainstream media pondering the reason.

Rose made up a nice strawberry shortcake with strawberries, blueberries and peaches, wicked good!

Rose checked the basement Thursday so far were good. We'll have to check it again on Friday morning.

Rose planted a bunch of plants Saturday

We went over to Jarrod and Crystal's for Crystals birthday dinner, she got a cake from Fredrick's that was the best I'd ever had.

Sunday I got the mower deck off the older tractor, used the impact wrench to remove the blades of course one blade took some liquid wrench and some carefully timed swearing to get it off. I figured out why the belt keeps coming off, one of the idler pulley shafts had pulled out of the mower deck, we got that sorted out and it all went back together. -Done!  Took longer than expected! As always...

We came into the house Sunday to find once again one of Rose's teapot lids somehow popped off a teapot and smashed on the floor, we've no idea how this keeps happening, spooky though.

Memorial Day!  We finally got some sun today!  It was pretty nice the whole day. We checked the sump pump pits, they were dry!  Yay! We pulled the sump pumps.  Potatoes, Onions and hot dogs filled out the menu for the day.

Rose did the mowing on Tuesday place looks great mowed.

Winston found a bee in the house Tuesday evening, he wasn't acting like he got stung, I found the dead bee on the floor Wednesday morning.

The deer have been cleaning up all the Wildlife Grains mix we put out.  They like the Wildlife block we'd put out too.

Couldn't believe all the birds flying about on Tuesday evening, Sparrows, Red Winged Blackbirds, Blue Jays, Bluebirds, Crows, Mourning Doves, Pigeons and Swallows filled the sky, everyone was chattering.

Thinking I'll put in more mosquito dunks this weekend, if it ever dries up enough.

The “presidency” of Joe Biden is one of the greatest scandals in American history. The legacy media is only now covering the mental incapacity of a president who apparently left the entire ship of state to the unaccountable bureaucracy.

Inflation slows to 2.3%, marking lowest rate since 2021 as Trump policies reverse Biden-era price surges

The idea that Democrats have until now been taking the high road is one of the biggest of Big Lies we've ever heard.
Let’s Face It, Dems Have Always Been ‘Dark Woke’

JUST IN: President Trump Announces BIG Rally on May 30 to Celebrate Massive Investment in US Steel – Partnership with Nippon Steel will “Create at Least 70,000 jobs, and Add $14 Billion Dollars to the U.S. Economy” AMERICAN MADE is BACK. I will see you all at US Steel, in Pittsburgh, on Friday, May 30th, for a BIG Rally.

Trump is like the gift that keeps giving in this area. Everything Trump does -- or even considers -- is a coming apocalypse that must be fought to save us all.

But regardless of the current impending doom, the Democrat party is the only solution to stave off the end of everything. Power, money, freedom, your children -- all must be granted to the government to save us.

Nope. Not remotely. When the prediction of doom doesn’t happen, they only become more certain of their cause! Being completely and utterly wrong only makes them believe even more!

Dems are impervious to facts. Impervious to feedback. Impervious to any and all things that don’t support their ideas. Feedback loops don’t work with these cults because there is no feedback possible -- just blind allegiance to the cult and its beliefs. Pesky facts that don’t conform to their thinking are simply ignored.

These failures will perhaps cause the loss of a few newer members who haven’t been fully indoctrinated, but for those who have a significant emotional commitment to the beliefs of the cult, it only makes them more certain of their righteousness.

This is a key feature of the Democrat party. Being wrong on a whole cornucopia of things doesn’t erode their belief in these things but only strengthens their emotional commitment to these provable bad ideas. This of course stops the cult from learning and adapting to feedback.  But it is what it is.

Mothers day Weekend! - Rain Rain, Go Away!

Rain Rain, Go Away!

Jarrod and Crystal took us out to Dinner at the Tomahawk Butchery and Tavern for Mothers day, great food, nice place, good wait staff.

It's been raining for 9 consecutive weekends now, as of May 11th

Mothers Day on Sunday we finally got some sun, so it became a designated work day.  We did a lot but only checked 3 things off our to-do list.  The black flies were out in force.

All the Apple trees are blooming now.

The Rhubarb was already starting to bolt so we pulled the heads off, we'll have to pick some this week, I'd like to try roasting some with strawberries.

  • The Screened Gazebo went up today, a bit windy but not too bad, for some reason it didn't give us a lot of trouble going up. Still took 4 hours to get everything up, Nice!
  • Fixed the old mower belt that had come off.
  • Got some mowing done.
  • Moved a Blink camera out to the deer-yard.

  • Assembled and charged the new cordless hedge trimmer.
  • Rose went out to the camper and found that mice had chewed the cord to the dehumidifier cord, and not just the insulation the critter ate the copper wires too. It's replaceable thankfully
  • Took some yard pics

The male Oriole was enjoying the grape jelly
Lilacs are just starting to bloom
There's color everywhere
The Viburnum Pop-Pom is flowering now perfuming the entire yard
The Weeping Cherry is blooming too.

At least one pair of Orioles are here

FROST warning for Sunday evening!  We brought the plants in the house

We're hoping the wicked winds are gone for the year.

The quince is flowering, I finally got to see the female cardinal.

We saw the Verio in the old apple tree.
Warbling Vireo Adult (Eastern)

Rose mowed for several hours on Monday, lawn and field look great!

Monday night I went down the basement to look around with all the rain I was a bit worried, and rightly so, there was water coming into the basement from under the front wall where it meets the floor. Water percolates into the soil 6-8' down into the ground coming off Griffin Hill above the house travels down underground until it hits the front stone foundation wall and enters the house where the floor meets the wall. The pit where the sump pump is was full, the sump pump was unplugged. We got the sump pump connected to power and the hose out the basement bulkhead.

As it seems to go we found our dehumidifier has died, it runs but does not pull any humidity out of the air, the drain hose has no water coming out. Off to Amazon I go... I ordered the new Dehumidifier, it arrived Wednesday the box clearly saying not to run it for 24 hours, to let the Freon settle, ugh... Yay Thursday afternoon I turned the dehumidifier on and an hour later water was dripping out the drain hose! Happy happy!

The water in the basement just kept coming Tuesday the 13th, we worked on the sump pump, added a second one and ultimately pick-axed another hole in the floor, added another sump pump after a trip to Ace Hardware (They'd sold out and just received another shipment thankfully...) finally after all day vacuuming and pumping the water slowed down around 7 pm.  The Piscataqua River is so high it's about to overflow the banks, the dams are all open, and still the waters percolate down from the hills.

The last 100 year flood occurred exactly 19 years ago in 2006 in New Boston! Affectionately called the Mothers Day Flood!

Wednesday Rose and I noticed the chokecherry's are about to bloom they'll cover the ground with purple berries in the fall if it's not to dry then. They have hard little cherry stones inside that'll be everywhere.

Thursday the water coming in under the wall has slowed substantially, we're still running the pumps several times a day. We're keeping ahead of it now!

We've got more rain coming this week on Friday... Its going to be a week.

CLIMATE PONZI SCHEME DENIED: Trump begins the exit of the BIGGEST WASTE of money, resources and human lives ever and the climate alarmists are freaking out.

MAY DAY 2025

IT'S MAY DAY

Took the new lawn tractor out for a test run on Wednesday evening, this new tractor is a beast.

We had a half dozen deer show up on Wednesday evening early around 7:15PM a couple of them are huge.

The solar frame will be bolstered this spring, we set it up quickly, I have some steel poles that will make it more permanent.

We talked to Jason on Thursday evening, he sounds much better he's taking something for his spring allergy now.

Tractor Supply didn't have any chicks last week when we went, folks are buying them out as soon as the arrive still...

We're still running the pellet stove in the evenings and in the morning to take the chill out of the house.

Dad's plum trees are flowering now, making the front yard smell amazing.

It's supposed to rain every day for the next week or so from 5/2-9th.  Here come the mosquitos...

"God willing and the creek don't rise."

There's an old oak down by Jarrod's old tire swing that sooner or later we'll see it  laying on the ground.  There's an old pine tree there that'll take out the power for the area when it comes down too.

James joined Rose and I Friday for our annual trip to the Milford Hayward's for a couple of Hotdogs and a Chocolate Frappe, Nice day, sunny and no bugs, what's not to like?

May 3: Mars and Moon

The first quarter moon this month will appear right next to Mars on the evening of May 3. Look toward the western sky in the first half of the night. You may also be able to see the Beehive Cluster (Messier 44), a cluster of 1,000 stars that's around 600 light years away, lit up by the glow of the Red Planet.
May 5: Eta Aquarid peak

The Eta Aquarid meteor shower has been active since mid-April, but it will peak on the night of May 5–6. This event results from the Earth passing through debris left behind by Halley's Comet (which is also responsible for the Orionids in October). The shower is best viewed in the Southern Hemisphere, but in the north, viewers may still see 10–30 meteors per hour.

According to Space.com, the best time to catch the Eta Aquarid peak is between 2 a.m. and dawn local time. As always, you'll want to choose a location that's as dark and free of light pollution as possible, and give your eyes at least 30 minutes to adjust.

May 12: Flower Moon
May's full moon is known as the Flower Moon, and it will occur on May 12. Like April's Pink Moon, the Flower Moon is a micromoon: 5% smaller and 10% dimmer than a regular full moon because it takes place at the farthest point from Earth.

We heard the Oriole Saturday morning, Rose went out to see him/her, it was on the Jelly feeder.

We can hear babies in many of the birdhouses already

The birds chow down on an impressive number of insects, with the Baltimore Oriole able to munch 17 caterpillars a minute; a house wren can pass on 500 spiders to its offspring in a single afternoon.

We haven't seen the Great Blue Herons yet, but the ducks and geese have been flying by.

Lots to do on our list for Saturday

  • Pull out all the Virginia Creeper in the Main Garden - Done!
  • Measure and order a new bearings for the big windmill - Done!
  • Trench and run the new 100' solar cables
  • Install the new replacement Outdoor faucet
  • Pick up the cut brambles by the workshop - Done!
  • Put down Tick Stuff in the front yard
  • Put the Mosquito dunks in the ponds - Done!
  • ugh... It's Spring

We’re going through our final review of preps and plugging the last holes.  This Tariff war might get ugly... “A 60% decline in containers means 60% less stuff arriving,”  “It’s only a matter of time before they sell through existing inventory, and then you’ll see shortages. And that’s when you see price hikes.”  The next time you walk into Walmart, Target or Home Depot, you may be shocked at the price hikes that you are seeing. The good news is that the U.S. and China will be talking this weekend.  Let us hope those negotiations go well.

RAIN, RAIN, and yet more rain, everything is growing like crazy!

Monday morning the coffee pot was empty...

It rained, and rained, then it rained some more...

We finally got some sun on Wednesday!

This time of year on the homestead everything happens all at once it seems. We've seeded, weeded, cut brush and brambles, raked, trimmed trees, cut roots, put up a new solar array, built birdhouses, and put them up, fixed some broke stuff, mowed the lawn twice already, the to-do list is still there... but it's a little bit shorter.

I can hear this... Can you?

Thursday it's SUNNY in the morning. The Wrens are back now.

There was a thunderstorm Thursday after 5PM traffic was a mess, I stopped for gas in town and heard the thunder , just up the road there was a foot of water in the road the torrent like whitewater crossing the road, no wonder traffic was so bad there were 4 spots on the way home i had to drive through a river crossing the road.

Rained all night and it's supposed to rain all day Friday off and on.

Rose said a flock of turkeys came in Friday afternoon, Winston our lab was not impressed.

Flood warnings have been arriving all morning on Saturday 5/10!

The New England Flood of May 2006, often locally referred to as the Mother's Day Flood, was a flood event that occurred in New England, especially in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, during the month of May, 2006. It started on May 11, 2006 as a result of an unusually strong low pressure system that stalled over the central United States, drawing copious amounts of moisture from the Atlantic Ocean. Most of this moisture was drawn directly over New England, producing continuous heavy rain that led to record flooding near several rivers. It was described as the worst flooding since the New England Hurricane of 1938.[1]

I remember that day in 2006 like it were yesterday, we'd left Mom's house heading home, so many roads were washed out, our normal 30 minute drive took us nearly 6 hours to find a navigable way home.

It's Mothers Day on Sunday!  Happy Mother's Day!

US deported more than 3M people during Obama presidency — most without chance to plead case in court. 75-83% of people deported under Obama were removed without seeing a judge or pleading their case.

Socialist Bernie Sanders Doubles Down on Use of Private Jets — Says He Can’t Be Expected to Wait in Line at Airports Last month, it was reported that he had spent over $200,000 on private jets to travel to events during his anti-Trump “Fight Oligarchy” tour.

The left has gone so far off the rails, even their own pet projects are crashing and burning. When you push radical nonsense long enough, eventually the donors dry up, the base checks out, and the circus tent folds up and collapses. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening with David Hogg’s once-hyped anti-gun group, March for Our Lives.  What started as a media-fueled movement is now just another fading left-wing activist project that’s gasping for air. Turns out, screaming about gun bans and calling half the country “terrorists” isn’t a smart or sustainable business model. Who knew?

We've been witnessing in real time as Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) discover the malfeasance, fraud, and criminality of the real live people who run our massive government institutions?  To name only a few, there are the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Pentagon, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  All of these have been fleecing our country — with our tax dollars — not of millions or billions, but of trillions of dollars!

In fact, DOGE has been unearthing the deep corruption involving both Republicans and (mostly) Democrats and proving the maxim that to unearth criminal behavior, always, always, always follow the money!

Among other egregious examples of the kinds of waste, fraud, and abuse DOGE has been uncovering is that tens of millions of dead people are on our Social Security rolls, many of them children and people over 115 years old!  And look what DOGE found — that $4.7 trillion in payments from the Treasury Department were “almost impossible” to track.  That is trillion, with a T!

DOGE has also found that California, New York, and Massachusetts, three deep-blue states — surprise, surprise! — were responsible for over half of the fraudulent unemployment claims in the United States since 2020, again involving massive mountains of money.

Dems remind me of a child having a temper tantrum in Aisle 4 of a supermarket — flailing arms, copious tears, kicking and screaming, crashing the cans and breakable jars off the shelf, simply because Mommy didn’t buy those all-important Animal Crackers.  “Clean-up in Aisle 4” is then blared over the loudspeaker.

That is what DOGE is all about: cleaning up the monumental financial mess that our greedy and corrupt elected officials and government agencies have inflicted on all of us.

Estimated Savings

According to the latest in The New Republic, several major ports have already emptied out. We’re hearing that “the largest container ship terminal in Seattle has no vessels docked at all… the container ships are not here.”

There’s a lot of confusion. We’re going to see some misleading claims from both sides, but everyone is expecting a significant slowdown and supply chain disruptions. We won’t know how bad it’s going to get until later this month. So we can make a decision to act now out of precaution, or assume it won’t be that bad and take our chances.

ALERT: All purchases of Iranian Oil, or Petrochemical products, must stop, NOW! Any Country or person who buys ANY AMOUNT of OIL or PETROCHEMICALS from Iran will be subject to, immediately, Secondary Sanctions. They will not be allowed to do business with the United States of America in any way, shape, or form. Thank you for your attention to this matter, PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

This could get ugly folks!

Shocking study finds flu jab linked to increased influenza risk, raising alarm in medical community
A groundbreaking study from the Cleveland Clinic has cast serious doubt on the effectiveness of the annual flu shot, revealing that vaccinated individuals were more likely to contract influenza than those who skipped vaccination. The research, which tracked over 53,000 healthcare workers during the 2024-2025 flu season, found a 27% higher risk of infection among vaccinated individuals—a finding that contradicts decades of public health messaging.

Once, the U.S. government projected authority, discipline, and competence. Today, it’s a glorified daycare center where federal employees — supposedly tasked with national security — pass the time with coloring books and fake accomplishment certificates. A recent undercover interview with a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee confirms what many have long suspected: The federal bureaucracy is a hollow shell, staffed by emotionally fragile individuals more concerned with identity politics than enforcing the law.

"We have a coloring wall. Literally a coloring wall. Oh, coloring. Yeah, we have coloring books because we’re so bored, there’s nothing to do," the whistleblower admitted. "We’ve been doing a bunch of training, and we’ve been giving each other fake Microsoft Word printout accomplishment letters of how amazing we are."

On Joe Biden; This isn’t a small thing. It is not a small scandal. It is one of the biggest stories in the last several decades. America was being controlled by some unelected person or cabal and the media is still not asking the right questions nor digging.

  •     Who was in control?
  •     Who made the decisions?
  •     Who ran the autopen?

We don't yet know who ran the country with Biden acting as the Manchurian President, but they would have had four more years to enhance their progressive beliefs and keep the border open to fracture and destroy this country beyond repair. This destruction is what Democrats have been working towards and what Republicans have been pushing back against.

PANDEMIC ALERT: Experts issue terrifying warning for Americans to prepare NOW because bird flu really is spreading

100 DAYS OF HOAXES: White House Brutally Fact-Checks Some of the Most Egregious Hoaxes Peddled by Fake News Media and Democrats

  • HOAX: Fake News CNN’s Brianna Keilar implied the Trump Administration was somehow wrong for stopping illegal immigrants from stealing taxpayer dollars in the form of welfare benefits.
  • FACT: Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller summarily embarrassed her with the facts: “The federal government will find EVERY illegal alien who is stealing American taxpayer dollars — and that’s what Americans expect to happen. I don’t even fathom the premise of your question.”
  • HOAX: Sen. Chris Murphy, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and media outlets claimed President Trump’s directive to pause radical, wasteful government spending meant an end to Medicaid, food assistance, and other individual assistance programs.
  • FACT: Individual assistance programs — Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, etc. — were explicitly excluded, as was made clear by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and the Office of Management and Budget. Only unnecessary spending — DEI, Green New Scam, NGOs that undermine the national interest — were included in the directive.
  • HOAX: The Washington Post alleged the Trump Administration was setting “quotas” for immigration authorities — and gave the administration just four minutes to comment before publishing.
  • FACT: As usual, this was a fake story.
  • HOAX: An illegal immigrant in U.S. custody “simply disappeared,” The New York Times reported.
  • FACT: The illegal immigrant was a confirmed member of the vicious Tren de Aragua gang. An immigration judge ordered his removal, and he was deported along with other threats to national security.
  • HOAX: Fox News’s Jennifer Griffin gave legitimacy to a hoax from delusional Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth requested nearly $140,000 in “upgrades” to his government residence.
  • FACT: This lie was debunked by Secretary Hegseth — and it was so outrageous, even the AP was forced to admit it was completely fake.
  • HOAX: Politico claimed the Trump Administration “wipe[d] out firefighter health and safety programs.”
  • FACT: The programs remain a top priority for the administration — and will remain intact.
  • HOAX: Sen. Elizabeth Warren claimed that President Trump’s policies make it so “no one wants to make investments in the United States.”
  • FACT: President Trump has secured more than $5 trillion in investments since taking office, which is expected to create more than 451,000 new jobs — and the list is only expected to grow.
  • HOAX: The Fake News and their predictable allies ran with a story that claimed an American citizen was detained by authorities after he informed them he was, in fact, a citizen.
  • FACT: That’s not what happened. The individual “approached Border Patrol in Tucson and stated he had entered the U.S. illegally through Nogales. He said he wanted to turn himself in and completed a sworn statement identifying as a Mexican citizen who had entered unlawfully … A few days later, his family presented documents showing U.S. citizenship. The charges were dismissed, and he was released to his family.”
  • HOAX: The AP falsely claimed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said President Trump is “very good friends” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
  • FACT: The AP was humiliatingly forced to retract its story, admitting they were wrong. Stephanie Ruhle also had to issue a correction. DNI Gabbard was referencing President Trump’s relationship with Indian PM Narendra Modi.
  • HOAX: Student visa holders should have unfettered access to do whatever they want in the United States.
  • FACT: Wrong. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “When you apply to enter the United States and you get a visa, you are a guest… If you tell us when you apply for a visa ‘I’m coming to the U.S. to participate in pro-Hamas events,’ that runs counter to the foreign policy interest of the United States… If you had told us you were going to do that, we never would have given you the visa.”
  • The American people are fed up with the lies, distortions, and outright hoaxes from the Fake News and their Democrat allies.

President Trump and his administration are delivering on their promises to drain the swamp, secure the border, and put America First — and no amount of media spin can change that. Stay vigilant, and keep calling out the Fake News for what it is!

    Greenpeace co-founder, Dr. Patrick Moore:
"I am firmly of the belief that the future will show that this whole hysteria over climate change was a complete fabrication."
