IT'S MAY DAY
Took the new lawn tractor out for a test run on Wednesday evening, this new tractor is a beast.
We had a half dozen deer show up on Wednesday evening early around 7:15PM a couple of them are huge.
The solar frame will be bolstered this spring, we set it up quickly, I have some steel poles that will make it more permanent.
Tractor Supply didn't have any chicks last week when we went, folks are buying them out as soon as the arrive still...
We're still running the pellet stove in the evenings and in the morning to take the chill out of the house.
Dad's plum trees are flowering now, making the front yard smell amazing.
It's supposed to rain every day for the next week or so from 5/2-9th. Here come the mosquitos...
"God willing and the creek don't rise."
James joined Rose and I Friday for our annual trip to the Milford Hayward's for a couple of Hotdogs and a Chocolate Frappe, Nice day, sunny and no bugs, what's not to like?
May 3: Mars and Moon
The first quarter moon this month will appear right next to Mars on the evening of May 3. Look toward the western sky in the first half of the night. You may also be able to see the Beehive Cluster (Messier 44), a cluster of 1,000 stars that's around 600 light years away, lit up by the glow of the Red Planet.
May 5: Eta Aquarid peak
The Eta Aquarid meteor shower has been active since mid-April, but it will peak on the night of May 5–6. This event results from the Earth passing through debris left behind by Halley's Comet (which is also responsible for the Orionids in October). The shower is best viewed in the Southern Hemisphere, but in the north, viewers may still see 10–30 meteors per hour.
According to Space.com, the best time to catch the Eta Aquarid peak is between 2 a.m. and dawn local time. As always, you'll want to choose a location that's as dark and free of light pollution as possible, and give your eyes at least 30 minutes to adjust.
May 12: Flower Moon
May's full moon is known as the Flower Moon, and it will occur on May 12. Like April's Pink Moon, the Flower Moon is a micromoon: 5% smaller and 10% dimmer than a regular full moon because it takes place at the farthest point from Earth.
We heard the Oriole Saturday morning, Rose went out to see him/her, it was on the Jelly feeder.
We can hear babies in many of the birdhouses already
The birds chow down on an impressive number of insects, with the Baltimore Oriole able to munch 17 caterpillars a minute; a house wren can pass on 500 spiders to its offspring in a single afternoon.
We haven't seen the Great Blue Herons yet, but the ducks and geese have been flying by.
Lots to do on our list for Saturday
- Pull out all the Virginia Creeper in the Main Garden - Done!
- Measure and order a new bearings for the big windmill - Done!
- Trench and run the new 100' solar cables
- Install the new replacement Outdoor faucet
- Pick up the cut brambles by the workshop - Done!
- Put down Tick Stuff in the front yard
- Put the Mosquito dunks in the ponds - Done!
- ugh... It's Spring
We’re going through our final review of preps and plugging the last holes. This Tariff war might get ugly... “A 60% decline in containers means 60% less stuff arriving,” “It’s only a matter of time before they sell through existing inventory, and then you’ll see shortages. And that’s when you see price hikes.” The next time you walk into Walmart, Target or Home Depot, you may be shocked at the price hikes that you are seeing. The good news is that the U.S. and China will be talking this weekend. Let us hope those negotiations go well.
RAIN, RAIN, and yet more rain, everything is growing like crazy!
Monday morning the coffee pot was empty...
It rained, and rained, then it rained some more...
We finally got some sun on Wednesday!
This time of year on the homestead everything happens all at once it seems. We've seeded, weeded, cut brush and brambles, raked, trimmed trees, cut roots, put up a new solar array, built birdhouses, and put them up, fixed some broke stuff, mowed the lawn twice already, the to-do list is still there... but it's a little bit shorter.
Thursday it's SUNNY in the morning. The Wrens are back now.
There was a thunderstorm Thursday after 5PM traffic was a mess, I stopped for gas in town and heard the thunder , just up the road there was a foot of water in the road the torrent like whitewater crossing the road, no wonder traffic was so bad there were 4 spots on the way home i had to drive through a river crossing the road.
Rained all night and it's supposed to rain all day Friday off and on.
Rose said a flock of turkeys came in Friday afternoon, Winston our lab was not impressed.
Flood warnings have been arriving all morning on Saturday 5/10!
The New England Flood of May 2006, often locally referred to as the Mother's Day Flood, was a flood event that occurred in New England, especially in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, during the month of May, 2006. It started on May 11, 2006 as a result of an unusually strong low pressure system that stalled over the central United States, drawing copious amounts of moisture from the Atlantic Ocean. Most of this moisture was drawn directly over New England, producing continuous heavy rain that led to record flooding near several rivers. It was described as the worst flooding since the New England Hurricane of 1938.[1]
I remember that day in 2006 like it were yesterday, we'd left Mom's house heading home, so many roads were washed out, our normal 30 minute drive took us nearly 6 hours to find a navigable way home.
It's Mothers Day on Sunday! Happy Mother's Day!
US deported more than 3M people during Obama presidency — most without chance to plead case in court. 75-83% of people deported under Obama were removed without seeing a judge or pleading their case.
The left has gone so far off the rails, even their own pet projects are crashing and burning. When you push radical nonsense long enough, eventually the donors dry up, the base checks out, and the circus tent folds up and collapses. Well, that’s exactly what’s happening with David Hogg’s once-hyped anti-gun group, March for Our Lives. What started as a media-fueled movement is now just another fading left-wing activist project that’s gasping for air. Turns out, screaming about gun bans and calling half the country “terrorists” isn’t a smart or sustainable business model. Who knew?
We've been witnessing in real time as Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) discover the malfeasance, fraud, and criminality of the real live people who run our massive government institutions? To name only a few, there are the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Pentagon, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). All of these have been fleecing our country — with our tax dollars — not of millions or billions, but of trillions of dollars!
In fact, DOGE has been unearthing the deep corruption involving both Republicans and (mostly) Democrats and proving the maxim that to unearth criminal behavior, always, always, always follow the money!
Among other egregious examples of the kinds of waste, fraud, and abuse DOGE has been uncovering is that tens of millions of dead people are on our Social Security rolls, many of them children and people over 115 years old! And look what DOGE found — that $4.7 trillion in payments from the Treasury Department were “almost impossible” to track. That is trillion, with a T!
DOGE has also found that California, New York, and Massachusetts, three deep-blue states — surprise, surprise! — were responsible for over half of the fraudulent unemployment claims in the United States since 2020, again involving massive mountains of money.
Dems remind me of a child having a temper tantrum in Aisle 4 of a supermarket — flailing arms, copious tears, kicking and screaming, crashing the cans and breakable jars off the shelf, simply because Mommy didn’t buy those all-important Animal Crackers. “Clean-up in Aisle 4” is then blared over the loudspeaker.
That is what DOGE is all about: cleaning up the monumental financial mess that our greedy and corrupt elected officials and government agencies have inflicted on all of us.
Estimated Savings

Per taxpayer amount is calculated using an estimate of 161 million individual federal taxpayers.
According to the latest in The New Republic, several major ports have already emptied out. We’re hearing that “the largest container ship terminal in Seattle has no vessels docked at all… the container ships are not here.”
There’s a lot of confusion. We’re going to see some misleading claims from both sides, but everyone is expecting a significant slowdown and supply chain disruptions. We won’t know how bad it’s going to get until later this month. So we can make a decision to act now out of precaution, or assume it won’t be that bad and take our chances.
ALERT: All purchases of Iranian Oil, or Petrochemical products, must stop, NOW! Any Country or person who buys ANY AMOUNT of OIL or PETROCHEMICALS from Iran will be subject to, immediately, Secondary Sanctions. They will not be allowed to do business with the United States of America in any way, shape, or form. Thank you for your attention to this matter, PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
This could get ugly folks!
Shocking study finds flu jab linked to increased influenza risk, raising alarm in medical community
A groundbreaking study from the Cleveland Clinic has cast serious doubt on the effectiveness of the annual flu shot, revealing that vaccinated individuals were more likely to contract influenza than those who skipped vaccination. The research, which tracked over 53,000 healthcare workers during the 2024-2025 flu season, found a 27% higher risk of infection among vaccinated individuals—a finding that contradicts decades of public health messaging.
Once, the U.S. government projected authority, discipline, and competence. Today, it’s a glorified daycare center where federal employees — supposedly tasked with national security — pass the time with coloring books and fake accomplishment certificates. A recent undercover interview with a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employee confirms what many have long suspected: The federal bureaucracy is a hollow shell, staffed by emotionally fragile individuals more concerned with identity politics than enforcing the law.
"We have a coloring wall. Literally a coloring wall. Oh, coloring. Yeah, we have coloring books because we’re so bored, there’s nothing to do," the whistleblower admitted. "We’ve been doing a bunch of training, and we’ve been giving each other fake Microsoft Word printout accomplishment letters of how amazing we are."
On Joe Biden; This isn’t a small thing. It is not a small scandal. It is one of the biggest stories in the last several decades. America was being controlled by some unelected person or cabal and the media is still not asking the right questions nor digging.
- Who was in control?
- Who made the decisions?
- Who ran the autopen?
We don't yet know who ran the country with Biden acting as the Manchurian President, but they would have had four more years to enhance their progressive beliefs and keep the border open to fracture and destroy this country beyond repair. This destruction is what Democrats have been working towards and what Republicans have been pushing back against.
PANDEMIC ALERT: Experts issue terrifying warning for Americans to prepare NOW because bird flu really is spreading
100 DAYS OF HOAXES: White House Brutally Fact-Checks Some of the Most Egregious Hoaxes Peddled by Fake News Media and Democrats
The American people are fed up with the lies, distortions, and outright hoaxes from the Fake News and their Democrat allies.
President Trump and his administration are delivering on their promises to drain the swamp, secure the border, and put America First — and no amount of media spin can change that. Stay vigilant, and keep calling out the Fake News for what it is!
Greenpeace co-founder, Dr. Patrick Moore:
"I am firmly of the belief that the future will show that this whole hysteria over climate change was a complete fabrication."
