We finally got a little rain on Wednesday, it's supposed to rain lightly off and on today. WMUR says we'll need 6" of rain to alleviate the moderate to severe drought we're in.
Thursday we got more rain. Not sure how much, they said over 2", it pretty much rained all day off and on.
The Oak tree on the side hill are slowly dropping their acorns in the back yard.
We've got our pallet of pellets delivered on Friday
There is one hurricane "Humberto" and a tropical depression churning off the coast we'll keep an eye on those.
We're working on the workshop windows today, then I need to fill the rut in front of the mailbox.
HARVEST MOON coming 11:48 p.m. EDT on Oct.6
We still have about 16 tomatoes (mostly green) now on the plant out back we've already harvested 16 or so 1-2lb. tomatoes, hopefully frosts will hold off.
Rose and I finished all the pre-paint preps on the house side of the shop Saturday, I installed the new window, it was hot in the sun.
We got a notice from our mail carrier that we needed to fix the rut that had washed out in the rain a few days ago, I shoveled a bunch of the gravel from behind the mailbox filling it pretty well.
We filled all the empty gas jugs, just in case those hurricanes come up the coast.
Sunday we'll fill the empty propane tanks
It's time to set out mouse traps the little critters like to get into everything.
Appears there is only one day of rain in October, with the well already sipping water we're going to be in trouble for sure.
Sunday was a fall cleanup/preps day, I deployed mouse defenses in the basement, trailer barn and workshop, Rose cleaned fans so they can get put away, Rose took the big wind chimes down and put up for winter. We'd filled up the empty gas jugs, adding fuel additive as we went, we tried to get a 20# propane tank filled at Ace Hardware, sadly the tank expired in 2014 and they wouldn't fill the tank...
Monday more bad news, the drought continues to get worse by the day.
Tuesday evening the Coyote was back in the deer yard.
Rose has been painting the house side of the shop, it's looking like brand new!
35 Degrees Thursday morning, we'd covered the Tomato plant, there were FROST warnings for our area. The plant survived the night!
THE BEFORE pics of the workshop
BEFOREAFTER pics of the workshop! Amazing prep and painting by Rose I helped with the prep work before paint, Rose did all the painting! Fascia all replaced, flashing on, roof securely fastened down, Rose Is quite the woodworker, she made the shutters and Window-boxes and rebuilt the door threshold that was rotted too. It looks absolutely amazing now, like a new building!AFTERThursday into Friday morning another frost warning, we covered the tomato plant again, still no frost here, whew! It only got down to 37 degrees.
The deer (Doe and her two fawns) haven't been seen out at the deer yard in two days now. They've been avoiding the area since we saw the coyote out in the yard within 40 minutes of them being there, maybe he's chased them away!
I raked a pile of leaves up for the dogs to play in, the Maple trees have now lost 40-50% of their leaves already.
Saturday evening the deer didn't come in again...
We've been slowly prepping the yard for winter, putting wind chimes away, bringing in the houseplants that we have outside for the summer months, picking up the yard sculptures, filling in holes the dogs had dug.
I got to see Orion's Belt Saturday night! You can see Orion below with his 3 starred belt. It's my favorite constellation to look for in the night sky!
The leaves are still dropping like crazy.
We haven't seen the Coyote the last couple of days either. The birds are enjoying the feed leftover as the deer and raccoons haven't been around. We're still patrolling the yard before letting the dogs out after dark and in the morning at dark thirty ;-)
Rose re-stained the dining room chair rungs the dog chewed as pups, they look better.
We went for a nice drive Saturday, not a lot of color mostly browns and yellows this year. We stopped at a local pong boat launch, water was warm, we saw a boat desperately trying to start his motor, lots or smoke, motor sounded so bad, hope he had a paddle.
We had to stop for a flock of turkeys and points to cross the road.
Jarrod is coming over Sunday to celebrate his birthday. We made a salad for dinner, cut up onions and potatoes to go with the steaks.
I pulled the AC out of the bedroom, Rose had already removed the living room AC.
The ladybugs are here they were all over the front of the house.
Were supposed to get rain one day this week, were still concerned about the well.
Rose ordered some new beds for the dogs, one arrived Sunday, the other was delayed.
Jarrod, Crystal and James stopped by to celebrate his 43rd birthday on Sunday, Rose had picked up Some nice steaks, she made up foil packs of potatoes and onions, salad and a fruit salad, I sliced and cooked up peppers and mushrooms, a nice loaf of bread too. The weather was perfect, we had a great time.
Still no deer Sunday night.
The dogs have left the pumpkin alone so far.
Monday morning 8AM there someone rang the doorbell, it was the power company letting us know they were replacing the power pole on the road out front. We'd be losing power for 5 hours in 30 minutes.
Rose came up with an idea for a wooden Xmas tree with lights, we cut up some 1x8s into strips for the triangular shape and screwed it together, Rose has some hooks the lights will be strung through.
The super moon was beautiful Monday evening.
Tuesday we discovered my WIFI router took a hit from the 4 hour power outage Monday, at least a couple ports on my router are dead.
Rose is working on picking up all the lawn ornaments and yard sculptures. She finished her latest Xmas tree creation too.
Wednesday 5:30AM it started raining just as I went to take the trash out for pickup, a gentle rain, now if we could only get it like this for 4-5 days straight... This rain is only supposed to add up to 1/3 of an inch, not enough for sure.
Redtail Hawk flew into the backyard landing on one of the birdhouses
We've got a trailer load of construction debris to bring to the dump on Saturday assuming I can get the trailer lights working again, we've got 2-3 trailer loads, dead lawn tractors and old push mowers etc. to bring there.
FROST Coming in Thursday night 29 Degrees, we'll cover the tomato plant and hope for the best!
We've got Green Tomatoes, now what?
The last of the ripe or nearly ripe tomatoesWhy did the Turkeys cross the road? On our Saturday drive looking for color up north a bit.
It was 46 degrees Thursday morning
We'll shut off the outside faucet this evening retrieving the hose end sprayer to prevent them from cracking.
Friday AM it was 31 degrees, and a white frosty wonderland awaited when I went out with the dogs.
We have a couple days of rain coming in starting Sunday
We still have water in the well, so we're OK for the time being, we really need several days of rain.
There was Frost down below the house in the field Saturday morning, up at the house no frost.
Saturday is a big work day, lots to do... just shit that needs to get done before winter!
- Raking between the shop and barn
- Trailer Lights fixed.
- Make dump run #1 with construction debris
- Replacing batteries, Smoke detectors, LED outdoor light, cameras,
- Change whole house water filter
My replacement Router is supposed to arrive on Saturday, it'll be a process to get everything Google, and Amazon setup and running off the new device.
Clean the Pellet stove is on the agenda for Sunday
We may get some much needed rain on Sunday!

Should Medicaid, a safety-net program designed for low-income Americans, be stretched to cover illegal immigrants? Democrats have answered yes, Republicans no—and the standoff has left taxpayers caught in the middle.
Eric Trump dismantled Chris Cuomo live on television after the disgraced former CNN host tried to downplay the Biden regime’s blatant weaponization of the federal government against President Donald Trump.
The clash began when Cuomo pressed Eric Trump on whether it was “fair” to claim that the current administration was targeting its political opponents.
- Chris Cuomo: “Do you think that it is fair to say it looks like the administration is going after its political opponents now and doing exactly what you say you oppose?”
- That’s when Eric Trump unloaded with both barrels, calling out Cuomo’s hypocrisy and reminding him that he, too, had been on the receiving end of the same corrupt media and political establishment.
- Eric Trump:
- “What? Comey? Because it seemed very clear to me in the Congressional testimony — I don’t know, just watching it — it certainly seemed like he lied to me. I’m also wondering what an FBI director is doing taking memos from the FBI and leaking them to The New York Times.
- Chris, I’m a guy that hopes the FBI director would be keeping planes from flying into buildings, keeping our country safe, keeping the Western way of life safe. Instead, this guy is communicating every single day with The New York Times. I mean, I’d hope a lot better.
- But I find it so ironic that you’re literally one that’s pushing back on the weaponization of government when the very same people that were coming after us went after your brother like hounds. I mean, they did everything they could to destroy his governorship. They did everything they could to destroy his life. They did everything they could to destroy you.
- I sat in that same seat. The only difference is my last name wasn’t Cuomo. My last name was Trump. They were trying to destroy my father — and by doing that, they were trying to destroy me, and they were trying to destroy the Trump Organization.
- Eric Trump (continued):
- “They were trying to take all our assets and strip our name off of every building in New York City. You’ve been on the receiving end of the very same people that I’ve been on the receiving end of. And so, to play coy with me as if this isn’t happening in the United States of America just seems ironic and foolish, given what you’ve been through more so than anybody.”
- After Cuomo defensively snapped back, the younger Trump erupted, delivering a three-minute truth bomb.
- Chris Cuomo:
- “Hold on a second — what did you just say that you think I’m doing?
- I’m asking you questions about whether or not, if something is wrong, it is also wrong to do the same thing when you get back in power — which certainly happened the first time the administration came in. You went right after Biden.
- I don’t mean you — you weren’t part of the administration. I’ll get to you in a second in terms of what’s going on right now.
- But if you think I’m playing coy, you don’t know me as well as you should. I’m not playing coy. I know what happened to me. I’m saying that what is happening now looks like what was done to you. That’s why I’m asking the question.”
- Eric Trump:
- “Hey — did we raid Biden’s home? Did we try and bankrupt Biden? Did they come after us? Did we weaponize every AG and DA against Biden?
- Did we do that against Hunter Biden, who had a laptop from hell — pictures of cocaine, illicit drug use, prostitution? Did we do that?
- Did we make up a dirty dossier about Biden? Did they try and destroy Biden’s marriage? Was any of that true?
- I mean, did we make up stories that Biden had secret servers in the basement of his home communicating with the Kremlin in Russia? Did we strip Biden off the ballot of multiple states?
- Did we take Biden off of Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and try to silence his voice so he couldn’t communicate? Did we put Biden in a courtroom every single day — 91 felony counts that have all been overturned from my father now — for nonsense, to try and keep him off of a campaign trail and to try and destroy his life?
- Did we do any of that?”
I'm not surprised. And I think it is prayer in general the Democratic Party hates. How dare you hold anything higher than the authority of The State.
The U.S. government has officially shut down after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach a funding deal.
