Sleepover at Nana's...

Jason and James spent the night at Nana's house Saturday night during the 1st real snow of the season. We had a grand snowball fight, what amazing arms the two boys have, I was hit with almost every snowball thrown. We drank cocoa and ate cheese and crackers to warm ourselves.

Nana baked Gingerbread cookies while the boys and I played CandyLand, Papa won... Nana and the boys decorated several dozen Gingerbread men (minus the two the boys ate to make sure they were good) The boys did a great job decorating with icing and gumdrops.

Look what we made!

The Black Friday Rush

What a Black Friday we had, off to Target at 4:30am, what a mob scene, parking lot was full by 5am. We lucked out and got a carriage from someone unloading their haul in to their car on the way in, most folks weren't so lucky and were seen dragging and juggling boxes through the store.

Once in the store the register line was almost at one point completely around the outer perimeter of the store, down the right side, all the way across the back of the store, up the left side and across the front to the registers.  There had to be 300+ people in line waiting their turn at the register.  WHEN WE WALKED INTO THE STORE...   Anyway we found almost every item we went for and decided to take our place in line.  We decided to leave Rose with the carriage and send me out on patrols to see If we could score the last few items on our list.  That worked out well and as we waited in line we found the Play-Doh we'd been looking for.  I have never seen so many LCD TV's being sold in my life I'd say 1 in 4 carriages had one in it.  The line went fast and efficiently maybe 30 minutes total in line not too bad.

Off to Walmart, many of the doorbuster items were all gone, parking lot had few cars in it no trouble parking and only one person in front of us in line.

Oddly enough both stores had State Police in the parking lots and in the stores keeping a watchful eye. (over by the electronics)

Thanksgiving Day 2009

Thanksgiving this year was special, we spent the day with Jarrod, Crystal, James and Jason, and Joe Hebert (below) over at Jarrod & Crystals house. Rose played with the kids, making construction paper garland rings. Joe and the boys had fun wrestling just look at his face in the picture... Everything was great, lots, no really, LOTS of food, snacks, cookies, pies, cakes, not to mention the excellent Turkey and Ham and all the sides, a quick clean-up after dinner and everyone rolled to the couch for a rest after dinner. Cowboys won the game which made Crystals day. The Thanksgiving ads were scrutinized carefully. I took the boys for a walk to work off some of the tryptophan effects.

Yes indeed a very good day!

Sunday Walk

Rose and I took the boys on a hike today over to the dam to see the falls, we were curious how high the water was with all the rain. The dam was down so all the water was going through the left side instead of going over the falls, Jason was helping me walk Chloe on the way back.

Goffstown's Newest FIreman

I can see the career change coming... From Train Conductor to Fireman in one night. Never saw anyone have that much fun driving a firetruck! Jason had a blast, the Goffstown Fire Dept. was handing out firehats and letting the kids sit in the drivers seat of the firetruck for a few minutes.

The Horde approaches...

Stacking wood today, crushed apples under my feet swarmed by yellow-jackets,  the yellow-jackets were calm enough, far more interested in the apple mush than stinging me.  Cloudy, damp and not a breeze was to be had, absolutely the wrong day to stack wood, but it's gotta get done.  After 4 or so loads with the tractor and trailer were stacked, I went in just as the sun came out.

Then I noticed them, just a few at first, then more.   I went to let the dogs out and inadvertently let in a dozen or so,  the front of the house was covered.   LADYBUGS!  Millions of them, the horde has arrived, and so the fall rituals here begin,  pull the air conditioners, close the screens, shut the storm windows.

Fall is here in New England!

SEPTEMBER!

SEPTEMBER! The hummingbirds are still here, we're filling the feeders for them daily.  The Oriole's stuck around this year and are s...
