The Newest Fishermen...

Jason and James went fishing with their new "CARS" fishing rod today. They both did very well for their first time out with a practice plug. (Next time with real hooks and worms) We would cast it out and they would reel it in. Couldn't get the grin off their face as long as they were holding the rod.

I think Jason is ready for a fly rod and Waders.

The Bees are Back

The bees are back, the Weeping Cherry tree was covered with Mason, Bumble, and Honey bees today by the thousand, appears everything is going to be early this year.

The Swallows came in late last week. Daffodils are blooming, almost all of our flowering trees and shrubs are ready to burst any day now.

The barn is cleaned and ready for this years menagerie...

Rose is busy on the flower beds transplanting out of some of the older beds.

The Winter Storm Feb 2010

Rose and I were out walking today looking at the storm damage from the Wind and Snow storm the 25th-27th, walking is about all we can do as this chest cold we have is nasty, it's on it's way out now but the congestion lingers for weeks.

We let Willow out in the field today for a run, he wasn't really interested in running in 6+ inches of snow and within a half hour was standing by the gate ready to come back in. We're still 2-3 weeks + from having bare fields here.

THE STORM
Seems we were pretty lucky I guess, "Mom's Pastries" across the way got hit hard, a tree came down on their porch roof, they still have a construction crew over there repairing the damage, we had some roofing blow off the barn, a section of the metal roof on the workshop needs to be re-nailed back down. We were without power Friday but got it back later in the day, lost power Friday morning at 4am and didn't get it back until Tuesday night 3/2 at 4pm. As I sad we were lucky we were able to save the big freezers contents.

Rose's Glass Top table, the 20+ lb glass sheets were lifted out of the table a smashed themselves against the back of the house 30 feet away.

The Greenhouse fared little better, (The covers been off) The end of the hothouse is now disconnected and leans.

The small shed that was against the back of the house is now tipped over, afraid to try and right this one, ugh. It's full of candles, lanterns and all manner of summer stuff. Chloe is certain that there is a chipmunk living inside and is camped near is most of the afternoon.

SPRING IS COMING

Spring is almost here though, the Crocuses are pushing their way through the leaves, Rosie raked them to give them more sun.
