Bats I tell ya"
Bats...
Rose came running into the bedroom, "Donnie" there's a bat downstairs...Hurry. I got up, went downstairs and sure enough an 8+ inch wingspan flying circles around the living room where Rose was watching TV. Rose said both Alley and Gordon were chasing it around the house. I grabbed the first thing I thought of, a flyswatter, i swung and missed and connected a couple of times. I knocked it down once but it flew off again. The bat flew out into the dining room and disappeared.
The next evening I was more prepared I went out to the shed to retrieve a badminton racket, of course where was the racket when you need it, nowhere that's where. So I spotted a tennis racket, grabbed it went back out of the shed and swung it a few times, yes sir this'll do nicely.
Next night Rose heard something clink in the kitchen, thought it may be the bat and closed the kitchen door.
4:15 AM the next morning I heard something hit the wall, sounded like a mouse or a chipmunk in the wall we've heard them in the past, then i heard the sound on the other wall. I opened one eye and there it was flying around the bedroom in big circles. I ducked, grabbed my robe and quickly exited the bedroom, ran downstairs, grabbed the tennis racket and ran back upstairs.
Every time I started to open the door an inch or two the bat would hit the top of the door as if to say keep out, finally I saw him head for the other side of the room and took my chance and got into the bedroom and closed the door, he made two more circles around the room and I swung. One swing one hit, I scooped up the bat onto the racked, popped him into a trash bag then out on the back porch he went.
I'm tired and I'm going to bed. Without the racket tonight.

Though the news was rather sad...
The "Monsanto Protection Act" is the name opponents of the Farmer
Assurance Provision have given to this terrifying piece of policy, and
it's a fitting moniker given its shocking content.

The Herd in March

Eight deer came in tonight around 6:30pm, the herd is coming in for some hay and a salt block we have out, they're nibbling on all the puckerbrush on the edges of the cove and the apple tree branches that are low enough. Rose was watching them standing up and stretching to reach the pine needles along the edge of the field on their way down to the pond.
The deer are coming in from a well worn path on the right.
SIX Here...
Five... The little one in the back left is "Big Ears" fawn from the summer, a little guy.

Storm is almost over, got another 9" today. Deer!
Storm is almost over, got another 9" today. This was a heavy wet snow, the snow blower had no problems.
Three deer came in tonight. They were digging up the acorns we placed a month ago. James, Jason, Rosie, and I go out every fall and gather acorns for them, they seem to enjoy them.
