Deer, Turkeys and Chickens, oh boy!

DEER
The deer are out tonight, four does out in the cove.  Rosie thinks at least one of the does is ready to drop a fawn, she's nervous, peeing a lot, and peeing for a long time, oh and her tail is staying up. She's noticed similar symptoms in past years a couple weeks before calving season.

TURKEYS
Our half dozen Turkeys arrived tonight, Broad-breasted Whites, we have them in the barn under heat lamps @ 90-100 degrees for the next seven weeks raising the temp 5 degrees a week.  I dipped each chicks beak into water first, then into their feed to give them the idea.  We'll check on them every couple hours tonight just to make sure they're OK.  Power company is cutting power tomorrow (of course they are... timing is everything) at 10am so we'll need to cover them up well or bring them into the house so they don't cool off and die.  The red heat lamp is supposed to keep the birds from pecking at each other, less pecking is good, I guess, we'll see.

Lucky Lucy!

CHICKENS
Our meat birds arrive tomorrow.  Jumbo Cornish Cross, big heavy breed birds.
