Nor'easter 2007 12-16-2003

Woke at 5:30am this Sunday morning peeked outside to see it snowing, it had begun, the Nor'easter we'd all been hearing about since Monday last week. Went downstairs and started the coffee pot.

Chicken soup on the stove... Took the remaining vegetables carrots and celery, from the veggie drawer from the 'fridge, chopped them up, added some chicken stock and leftover chicken from dinner last night. Rose reminded me to add the spices, parsley, oregano, and pepper. It's going to be a good day for soup.

Snowblowed the walkway and out to the tractor, barn and workshop, made a few passes around the house for the dogs, and headed for the greenhouse, got a nice path done and looked over to see the sawbuck near the woodpile where Jarrod and I'd left it. I decided that where it's early in the season I'd better keep the woodpile clear so off I went. I'd cleared the 16+ inches away from the right side and thought I'd clear the left side too as it's always more fun sawing wood with two people. Then clunk! I knew that wasn't good, figured I'd hit a chunk of wood we'd missed in the fall, nope that's where we'd decided was a good place for the ladder. I stopped the tines and kicked them once they stopped, sure enough on side spun freely, I'd broken a shear pin. I limped the machine now plowing the snow instead of throwing it back to the house and went inside for a cup of coffee.

Off to the barn, hay'd and grain'd Lacey and Willow, gave them some old bread that they relish, a couple of carrot and celery ends for the rabbit.
