Drought
Not something you want to think about when you're on a well, we're OK for now but we're not watering the lawn either.  Our pond level is fine for now, however the Piscataquog River is not looking so good, we drove by this morning, real low.  We lost a crop of blueberries to low water conditions already and some of the shrubs are looking sad.  We get threats of bad storms the always seem to split up and go around us so as it's been raining in areas we're left high and dry.

Gardens
Squash are starting to come in.  We're picking Summer, a couple zukes and patty pans are producing like crazy.  Roses flower beds are spectacular this year, the whole yard is in bloom.

Pop-Up Camper
Rose is sewing like crazy, recovering all of the cushions, curtains, you name it it'll look real nice when she's done.

Deer
Big ears is back with a fawn, we haven't seen her yet this year, Rose thinks she chased off the other pair that has been here, she's much larger than most of the deer around.  Her fawn is small again this year though.

The Boys of Summer - 2012

James and Jason had a blast running around on Friday evening, playing in the dirt, and running through the sprinkler, chasing, and being chased by Harley.  To top it all off they hardly even got dirty, no sir, not hardly any dirt was to be found.  Probably didn't even need a bath.  Ok, maybe James, James might have needed a hosing down, but Jason, nope no dirt on that boy.  Hah.. Well they had a blast anyway!

 I don't need a bath!

The Squirt Gunners

James and Jason were tearing up the neighborhood July 2nd and third, with squirt guns that is...  These nefarious New Boston ruffians were taking no hostages, no dogs or grandparents were safe.  They tore things up for nearly 3 hours before heading to the local tavern called "Nana's Kitchen" for snacks and Yoohoo...

 Pew, Pew, bang, bang...
Got you, no I got you, was heard all afternoon.

BANG!  He shot 'em in the back...

Ahh to be Six years old again...

This is one of the best explanations of this country's economic condition.

Lesson # 1:

U.S. Tax revenue:

$2,170,000,000,000

Fed budget:

$3,820,000,000,000.00

New debt:

$1,650,000,000,000

National debt:

$15,771,000,000,000

Recent budget cuts:

$38,500,000,000.00

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

Annual family income: $21,700
Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500
Outstanding balance on the credit card: $157,710
Total budget cuts: $385

Got It?

OK now! Lesson # 2:

Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:

You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.

What do you think you should do?
(A) Raise the ceilings, or (B) pump out the crap?

Your choice is coming November 6, 2012.

I'm for pumping out the crap.

Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder

"Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should." - President Ronald Wilson Reagan

Hey your Redneck is showing...

Hey your Redneck is showing...  The camper move

So we purchased a used Pop up camper about a month back and it sat in the driveway ever since.  Rose thought it'd be a good idea to get the camper up by the house so she could give it the once over and clean it up before we use it the first time, and I could give the mechanical systems a once over.  I agreed as it's been a number of years (Pepperell `75 maybe...) since I popped a camper up, figuring out where all the miscellaneous parts go and got everything working.

Problem #1 No trailer hitch on any vehicle yet...  we're calling around now..

So I'd just finished mucking stalls and was driving by on the lawn tractor with the trailer and noted the height of the tongue was close to the same at the trailer.  Here is where it all went wrong.

So I backed the trailer to the tongue on the camper,  cranked up the trailer lift jack to place the trailer hitch on the bed of the lawn mower trailer.  Now I know some of you are thinking this can't possibly work...

Then I simply chained the camper hitch to the bed of the mower trailer.  I pulled the chocks from the trailer and gave it the gas, it seemed to pull it just fine no problem so far.  I pulled around the driveway and headed up the hill onto the front lawn clearly no consideration was given to the track conditions as the lawn was still wet with dew.

Problem #2 Halfway up the hill the wheels start spinning on the tractor and the whole parade comes to a stop mid lawn.

Oh god,  there are cars driving by seeing this redneck parade.  Ok, so I'm stopped, What to do? hmm, then Rose blurts out "just backup" get a running start and go for it.  Now anyone (except me apparently) knows that backing up a trailer can be a tad difficult, now think about what I've got here.  Lawn Tractor, Pulling a trailer, and another camper all tied together.  I slowly inch it back the entire trailer parade starts derailing and jackknifing on me.  I hit the brakes and stop it before it goes really bad.  Once again I can't help but think there are cars driving by seeing this redneck Parade.

Think, think, think,  ok, I spy the Honda Civic in the driveway and it's got one of those tie-down loops under the rear bumper used to tie the vehicle in transport.  I get more chain and tie a 20 foot piece from the Honda to the frame of the Lawn tractor.

Rose on the tractor, me in the Honda I give her the gas slowly and sure enough we all start heading up the hill and a few minutes later we're right where we wanted to be.  Redneck ingenuity and all not a bad morning.. Whew!  And nobody was killed in the telling of this tale either...

Whew!
