Its spring finally 2022

It's Spring 2022

Ok, NOW it's official, I got the lawn tractor out of the barn, the ground had thawed enough to allow the sliding front doors to move on their track on Sunday. I had gone to the workshop to solder a solar yard light wire that had been disconnected, and the dog's training collar batteries came in, so those needed to be put in too.

On the way back from the shop I yanked on the barn door and lo and behold it moved.  It was frozen solid the day before.  I opened the door, and got on the lawn tractor, it surprised me how fast it started, fired up immediately, way to go Cub Cadet...

We've done 4-5 poop patrols (Picking up the dog poops) in the yard so far this spring and as the last of the snow melts more and more is showing up...

We're probably a little behind some of you folks a little further south, it's encouraging though as the Crocuses are starting to bloom

Hyacinths are getting closer too.

I picked Rose some Forsythia today we'll force them in the house.

A ton of Pussy Willows are getting catkins on them now out in the field.

Apparently the ground was now thawed enough to drain all the water sitting on top of the frost line.  YAY, lawn tractor is out, grass in the field is starting to green up, let the yard chores begin...

I priced out parts for the grill, the grates were all rusted through and need to be replaced, the igniter was bad, a wonky wheel too.  It was time for a new one.

Lowe's only had grills with cast iron grates (they rust too quickly) We found a grill at Home Depot with the Stainless steel grates so picked one up, loaded it into the back of the Tucson and strapped it in, we were both pretty surprised it fit...  We cooked up some hotdogs last night, 1st time this year for the grill.

Home depot, walking by the garden tools I noticed that a new steel "leaf rake" is $28.00 now, I'll look more closely at the other tool prices next time I'm there. yikes...

I have a lot of old, broken, tools with bad or missing handles, a dozen or so axe heads acquired over the years, etc. that I need to repair too.

Ticks are out, one of the guys that works with me said his dog, and daughter already had ticks on them, ugh!  Rose says we have a bag of the Bug B Gone we use probably by next week I'll have to get it put down.

Tick Picks

The Woodcocks are back we've heard them a couple nights already

No peepers yet

We had the boys a week ago for St Pats dinner, there were frogs/toads hopping across the road in the dark on the way home...

The Blue birds are checking the birdhouses out.

Robins are actively patrolling the fields, no worms yet that I've seen.

Queue the Jaws theme song...  Fishing season is coming Wild Trout Ponds: 4th Saturday in April.  James and Jason will get their first Fishing License this year.  A general fishing license is required for those 16 years of age and over.

Political

New poll shows Republicans sweeping Midterms: 75% of swing-voters think Democrats are “out of touch” and “condescending”… spend too much money

Last week, Biden told us government spending simply isn’t the cause of inflation. Biden actually said that his historic spending will reduce the deficit and inflation. (Try telling your spouse that your $20,000 credit card charge actually reduced your deficits.)

Billionaire-owned news outlet Bloomberg says Americans should cope with soaring inflation by eating lentils instead of meat and saving on vet bills by letting their pets die. The article, headlined Inflation Stings Most If You Earn Less Than $300K.

Now That EVERYBODY Knows It, DC Finally Admits That Food Shortages are a Problem

It’s amazing how often President Trump was pilloried by the leftist media for comments that later turned out to be 100% correct. For example, January 2017, Trump said that his campaign was spied on. Democrats and their media had a meltdown. Last month, the Durham investigation and the Wall Street Journal proved that candidate Trump, president-elect Trump, and President Trump was, in fact, spied on by the FBI (probably the NSA as well). Then, October 2020, Trump said, “The policies of the Left would unleash an economic disaster of epic proportions.” Again, the Dems and their media (CNN, NY Times, ABC, etc.) had a meltdown. Sadly, we are experiencing Trump’s predicted economic disaster -- historic inflation and record gas prices.

Regarding inflation, when Trump left office, inflation was an annual rate of 1.2%. In the past six months, inflation is out of control. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, year-over-year inflation was 6.2% (October), followed by 6.8%, 7.0%, 7.5%, and 7.9% (in February). If they used the old method (pre-1980) of determining inflation, it would be over 14.5%. Thank you, Joe, for your Bidenflation.

What's happening now...

What's happening now...

Called Mom yesterday, Dad was out testing his new eye out after the cataract surgery. They got their new washing machine installed and are using it now.

Monday evening, the rains and winds came in, definitely a few 50 mph gusts rattling the windows in this old house, other than some knocked over snow shovels, no major damage.

I got an ESTES Model Rocket catalog yesterday, I'm a kid in a candy store... We'll launch a bunch of the models we have at the house this spring if we can get a few nice weekends lined up.

It's official, it's SPRING... Well almost Spring, I see we're resetting our clocks we'll spring ahead as Daylight Savings time is Sunday the 13th

St. Patrick's day on Thursday the 17th, Yum, I can't wait for the Corned Beef and Cabbage!

Tuesday the 8th I went on a walkabout, it was cool and breezy but nice to be out and about. I walked the fields today, the ice, and most of the snow is gone. Down the road to the pond from the deer yard, someone had dug up the yellow-jacket nest from the fall some more.  The pussy willows are starting to bud out, it didn't look like it from the house but, down in the field they were budding up.

Robins, and Red Winged Blackbirds came in today, bunches of each, Rose called me out back to hear the Blackbirds all cackling in the pines between the shop and the house quite a racket.

Seed catalogs are still arriving here on an almost daily basis, I'm making a list... We'll have to decide what we're doing soon.

Wednesday we got another 3" of snow today, most of it melted on Thursday, we have another storm Saturday the 12th coming in.

Today I went out to feed the deer, the deer yard is completely clear now.  Much easier running out there to feed when you're not contending with ice.  I ALMOST moved the deer yard back out into the field where it normally is... Almost.

It's Moms 85th birthday coming up 4/3/22.

 A Musical Interlude...

"STING Russians"

"Russians" lyrics:

In Europe and America there's a growing feeling of hysteria
Conditioned to respond to all the threats
In the rhetorical speeches of the Soviets
Mister Khrushchev said, 'We will bury you'
I don't subscribe to this point of view
It'd be such an ignorant thing to do
If the Russians love their children too

How can I save my little boy
From Oppenheimer's deadly toy?
There is no monopoly of common sense
On either side of the political fence
We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

There is no historical precedent to put
The words in the mouth of the president
There's no such thing as a winnable war
It's a lie we don't believe anymore
Mister Reagan says 'We will protect you'
I don't subscribe to this point of view
Believe me when I say to you
I hope the Russians love their children too

We share the same biology
Regardless of ideology
What might save us, me and you
Is if the Russians love their children too

Political Snark...

A blast from Obama’s first term:

  • Energy Secretary Steven Chu: “Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”

That would have been $8-$10/gallon. And now from Obama’s third term (aka, SloJoe): $4.00+ and rising...

Have you filled up your car lately? If you voted for CornPop you are getting what you voted for…good and hard.

The Morning Briefing: Tone-Deaf Team Biden Responds to High Gas Prices With Electric Car Sales Pitch!

GAS PRICES???

States with the highest gas prices:
California - Democrat
Hawaii - Democrat
Nevada - Democrat
Oregon - Democrat
Washington - Democrat

States with the lowest gas prices:
Arkansas - Republican
Oklahoma - Republican
Mississippi - Republican
Texas - Republican
Missouri - Republican

Remember when we had a President who warned us on becoming dependent on foreign oil?
They laughed at him...
But he was right.

Are You Happy With The Price You Pay at the Pump?
Thank a Democrat! I know that sounds kind of like a partisan shot, but really! Remember the bilge and blather that Nancy Pelosi and her cohorts have been pumping for years? Gasoline was $2.32/ gallon the day before Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House. She said that the price of gas was too high, and the Democrats were going to change that!

Biden Announces Ban on Russian Oil, Then Lies and Claims He's Not Stopping U.S. Oil Production (Despite Running on Doing Just That)

At AoSHQ, "Gas prices just hit a record -- before this announcement, though the entire Democrat-Media Complex is now claiming that this announcement has reached back in time and retroactively caused Biden's inflation."

And watch, "BIDEN: 'It’s simply not true that my administration or policies are holding back domestic energy production'."

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed — if all records told the same tale — then the lie passed into history and became truth.” – George Orwell, 1984

Rising prices

Rising Prices

$4.00 Gas in town now as of Thursday... It was $3.49 last Friday.

Milk locally was $3.99 a week ago, is now $5.00.  MB still has has it for $2.59 their normal price thankfully.

The Piscataqua River

On the positive side,  MB shelves were stocked VERY WELL, better than we've seen since Thanksgiving last year! Wow what a difference!

Salmon and baked sweet potato for dinner yum, if was awesome.  And MB had fresh salmon on sale for the win $8.99/lb.

I'm looking up a recipe for creamed salmon & peas on toast, had this once as a kid I do remember going back for 2nds, thirds, and 4ths, it was that good!

Baking bread this weekend, we'll bake a couple loaves.  Trying a few sandwich loaves to see which one we like best.
