Nor'Easter and first frost

Thursday there was an all grey cat out in the deer yard hunting, don't know whose cat it is. 

Before it started raining Saturday I collected a good size bowl of acorns for the deer and turkeys.

I heard on the radio Friday that there 100 Bald Eagles born in NH in 2026!

Rose and moved 30 bags of pellets from the pallets to the dog house porch.  We've been burning the pellet stove in the mornings for the past week.

We went through the workshop, barn, and basement re-baiting mouse traps and putting out glue traps.  Attic, trailer and shed done too.

We're starting to see stinkbugs around, the annual ladybug invasion hasn't started yet.

Rose and I went to breakfast at Pressed in Bedford, so good!

What is it with German Shepherds and heating vents?  Rose was vacuuming out the forced air heating vents today, previously Zebulon walked up to the vent Rose was vacuuming and dropped his ball right into the vent, and today I kicked Bullet out of the office so Rose could finish the large intake vent there, Bullet walks back into the office and drops a 3" hard plastic ball into that vent, down the rabbit hole it went never to see the light of day, sheesh...

Tuesday, and finally, we have some sun, it's been rainy for the last 3 days.

Fall colors are starting to brighten up we're still a week or two away from peak.

 

I picked up a squash pie Thursday while at Market Basket, yum! 

 

We went to Lowes last weekend, Halloween and Christmas displays side by side! 

Supposedly, even with the recent 3 days of rain NH is still in a drought!

We finished the trim on the house, getting cracks filled and ready for winter

 

I mowed the yard short so that the leaves would be easier to rake and leaf blow.

 

Rose walked the yard ensuring we had the radio fence flags (The BAD Flags) ready around the perimeter of the house to start training Bullet to the radio fence. He did great, then we let Winston out at the same time, a couple of tense moments when we'd lose sight of them but overall he did great, not wanting to stray far from us.

GREEN SUPREME Pellets from Home Depot are awesome! Very low ash, almost no clickers, we bought 10 bags the end of last year and liked them in our pellet stove. We bought 3 pallets this year to hopefully get us through this heating season.

FROST tonight ugh.  Rose has all the houseplants in so were ready for it.

I have the propane tank hood installed, I'll have to take it off to make the final connections to the two 100lb tanks for the generator.

32 degrees this morning, the field is frosted.

Rose has been working on the front of the house flower beds, clearing away the dead debris.

 

Rose has a new LED light project a 4' tall star she'll put up on the back of the house.  She has a set of LED Lights she ran crisscrossed all over the front of the now painted white star.

I replaced the furnace and house water filters

 

I put out the trash on Thursday, later sitting at my desk I saw a black speck on the back of my finger, it was moving, quickly grabbing a magnifier looked at the speck, it was a TICK, a tiny nymph tick. I pinched it between my fingers and went to the kitchen, grabbed the tweezers and cooked the little bugger over the stove burner.  It most likely hitched a ride on one of the dogs, or was in the grass as I'd walked to the barn to take the trash out. That's the 1st tick we've seen since we got Bullet 2 months ago. 

Our Pellet Stove is running almost every morning taking the chill off the house. 

 

Friday I'm taking the day off to get the 100# propane tanks connected to the generator. After the obligatory trip to Ace hardware to get a brass fitting I didn't have, it's done, I checked all the fittings for leaks and ran the Genny for about 1/2 an hour.

 

Rose finished cleaning up the Rose circle in the front yard, goodbye roses and perennials until next year.  I took two trailer loads of what she trimmed, and pulled out of the beds out to the field.

 

I pulled the two field cameras out of the main deer yard and mounted them in the winter deer yard. I'll need to change the batteries before the snow flies.

  

We'll shut down the basement dehumidifier this weekend.

 

Halloween's a comin! 

Saturday we filled a void under the front porch with concrete, using the remainder of the concrete to fill a hole in the barn porch.  We are putting up Christmas lights this weekend because winter is coming, we hung up the star Rose made on the back of the house and a wreath on the front.  Rose tested the lights and they all worked!

 

"Bullet" our 2 year old German Shepherd rescue always keep a close eye on us, he'll run around the corner of the house but runs back in short order to check on our progress with whatever project we're working on. 

James came over, we went out for dinner at the Cowboy Cantina, food was OK.

 

I watched the last half of John Wick 4, awesome, kick ass, shoot 'em up, action film!

George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln were great Presidents with great achievements. We are seeing that kind of greatness today. A country turning around. It’s possible to live life proudly as an American again. We’ve been lifted from the Hell that globalists and corrupt politicians from within and without wanted for us. And we’re just getting started. Because the best is yet to come.
