The concord grapes growing up the trees along the driveway are putting out a bumper crop this year, we'll have to try and make jam or something with them

 

We picked another quart of Blackberries Monday evening, and a few remaining blueberries. 

 

It's Dragonfly day again Monday evening they were out in droves eating a small whitefly rising up out of the grass 

Tuesday morning 12:39ish Zeb came running upstairs, thinking bear, he settled right down once he was in the bedroom.

 

Goffstown family night out tonight, we stopped by they were giving helicopter rides and letting kids into the chopper to look around.

We've finally got some rain soaking the parched ground, not enough probably but at least we have some...

Jason is stopping by next week to help us clear some room in the barn.

We're going to head to Kimbal's Ice Cream in Westford in a couple weeks our yearly pilgrimage.  We'll get ice cream, maybe some seafood, and play some put-put golf.

The deer are still coming into the deer yard during the day, sometimes early in the AM, other times at dusk, still surprises us to see the 10 pointer out during the daytime.

Looks like she might be pregnant, saw her again Thursday evening, definitely pregnant.

Rose finished weed whacking and she mowed the front yard, when I got home I mowed the remainder of the back field and hill, fields look great mowed, all the woody growth is now gone.  We still have more to do but a lot of the bulk work is finished, Fall is coming quick...

Zeb was up scratching at the bedroom door at 1:30AM this morning, I got up and let him in, he settled quickly.

We cooked up Burgers and Linguica for dinner Friday night, Rose made up a nice salad, and a Raspberry pie Yum!

The Northern Flickers have 3 young ones stopping by daily to the grape jelly too.  Just a tiny spot of red on their heads.

We have a family of 4 Northern Flickers that stop by for grape jelly, and a few immature Orioles too.

The past few days the does started coming back into the deer yard, we still haven't seen any new fawns this year.

Busy day today, we're off to Sanborn Lumber to pick up some rough cut pine to make replacement birdhouses, we'll take down the 24 houses currently out around the yard and field this fall and replace some that are 8 years old now and are falling apart.  Off to landscape supply to price out crushed stone and loam, hit the bank to see what they have for rates, hit the grain store, the farmers market for a dozen ears of corn and some big beefsteak eatin' tomatoes for sandwiches.

We need to unload a load of lumber Sunday, and figure out how many yards of crushed stone and loam we'll need for the project.

Country style pork ribs with Ah-So sauce and corn on the cob!  We picked up a dozen ears so we'll freeze the rest up in quart bags.

We'd noticed driving Saturday you could see the smoke haze from the Canadian fires.

It was HOT on Sunday 7/28 moving lumber was brutal.  It's done though.  We got some great wood at a good price!

We cooled a couple burgers on the grill warmed the short rib leftovers and a salad for dinner, yum!

Lawns around town are all browning up, we stopped at the pond yesterday, it's gone down quite a bit we'll start watching water usage.  I haven't heard the "D" for "drought" word yet, I can feel it coming though. We're supposed to get some showers today Monday, the ground is so dry though it'll not be enough that's for sure.  

Rose was working in the barn and found a paper bees nest, turns out it's a yellow- jacket nest on the side door of the barn.  I sprayed it, we only had general flying insect spray, we'll need to pickup some wasp spray and soak the cantaloupe size nest.

Rose mowed the yard and a good part of the field on Tuesday.  I was in meeting hell so I couldn't help.  She did a great job the fields look great.

Still few to no mosquitos this year, to hot and dry I suspect, plenty of no-see-ums I'm OK with few to no skeeters!

Finally got the remaining Poke Weed all cut out, this stuff grows so fast in the heat and gets huge up to 8 feet tall, 2 trailer loads were removed.  If we don't get it the birds eat it and spread it even more of it around the property.

It's DRAGONFLY DAY, Thursday and Friday we had swarms in the yard and fields, there's small gnats swarming too providing dinner to the Dragonflies. A single dragonfly can consume over 100 mosquitoes in one day. With their incredible speed—reaching up to 30 miles per hour—they’re agile hunters, capable of catching and devouring a wide range of pests, including gnats, midges, flies, and moths.

We're picking blueberries and blackberries now, we'll add this to the gallon or so of raspberries already in the freezer.  The raspberries have finished producing for the year.

I was up at 3AM Friday morning to see if the Perseids Meteor Shower was visible, nope not here, not yet anyway.  This year, the Perseids span from July 14 to Sept. 1 and are expected to peak in the early morning hours of Aug. 12 as the Earth passes through the dust trails left behind by the 109P/Swift-Tuttle comet.

We were supposed to get a storm Friday night I expected to hear it but didn't.  Things were wet Saturday AM.

I've been living on tomato sandwiches the past couple of weeks, the heat is rally helping providing a lot of great tomatoes.  Rose picked up some sourdough bread that's great to use with the tomatoes.

I noticed there was a dense smoke shroud everywhere on my drive home from work on Friday.  Canada is on fire again.

We got a little bit of rain, just enough to piss off the grass...

We're off to bug some 5 gallon water jugs this weekend, and hopefully some more heirloom tomatoes for BLTs.

I went to the barn Saturday to get the 10' aluminum stepladder Rose got nervous with me chainsawing branches while standing on the lawn tractor.  I checked the Yellow jacket nest while there, it looks dead, I'll scrape the nest off later Sunday.

It was hot Saturday,  Rose and I decided to we needed to trim up some of the shrubs and cut down a bunch of overgrown trees, we worked hard, five trailer loads were taken out to the burn pile, some of the loads were overhanging the trailer by 15 feet, long Maple branches that were low hanging preventing us from driving around the side yard to the field.  Dad got me a battery powered handheld chainsaw a couple years back that came in real handy. Yard is looking much better, now we can mow everywhere we need to!  I cut a bunch of dead pine branches that had Virginia Creeper on them, Rose is allergic to them so she worked piling my mess from cutting other stuff, trimmed the Russian Olives, the Rose of Sharon's have grown like crazy in the heat this year, we trimmed low hanging branches from Dad's plum tree too, it was a good day!

We picked Blackberries Saturday evening, I washed them and put them into the freezer, we're getting a quart a day now.

Now she’s the likely Democrat nominee for president (at least as of today). No primary, no platform — other than being unburdened from something or other. She’s a diversity hire who makes Biden look like a genius. She’s being coronated (not with votes) because she’s a black woman (actually, she’s not, but let Ancestery.com work that out).

Harris is the same candidate who was so “popular” just four years ago that she dropped out of the Democrat primaries before the first caucus or primary due to her inability to raise money and her polling around 1%.
