We picked up batteries at Home Depot for some of the outdoor LEG lights out in the back yard and over where we store pellets. I couldn't get one of the lights to work, I took them out and put them back in a couple times, examined the contacts, assuming maybe I'd inserted one backwards. I put the old batteries back in and the light worked again, got out the battery tester and sure enough one of the brand new Eveready Energizer batteries I'd installed was completely dead, zero voltage in the battery. We replace the bad one with another one from the package and the light worked, great, something else to worry about... We used the battery tester on the remainder of the batteries, the rest were ok. Never saw that before.

Furnace guy is came to clean the oil furnace Tuesday, the dogs weren't happy.

Tuesday October 24th it's 32.7 degrees this morning, the pellet stove is running!

We're supposed to start raking, and blowing leaves this weekend, I need to tear down the pellet stove and give it it's last good cleanout before the snow flies.

Rose is sick, with a fever and a cough on Friday, she slept in Saturday morning very tired.

A couple of the Bluebirds were checking out the grey birdhouse too, a winter house perhaps.

More Illegal Aliens Flooded The Southern Border In September Than Ever Recorded In A Single Month

President Joe Biden’s deputies welcomed at least one economic migrant into the United States during the last 12 months for every American newborn or high-school graduate.

More than 4 million economic migrants crossed the southern border during the government’s October-to-September budget year, according to federal data released October 21.

In contrast, 3.67 million Americans were born during the matching 12-month period in 2022, according to the Census Bureau. That 2022 number includes at least 400,000 births to illegal migrants.

The major media, 63% of those responding said they either had “little trust” (29%) or “no trust at all” (34%). Just 30% said they had either “a lot of trust” (8%) or “quite a bit of trust” (22%). Just 6% said they were “not sure.”

Of all the major demographic breakdowns, only one group expressed majority trust in the media: Self-described liberals, with 52% saying they trusted the traditional outlets, but a nearly-as-large 44% saying they didn’t trust the media. That compares with conservatives (19% “trust,” 78% “no or little trust”) and moderates (30% “trust,” 61% “no or little trust”).

A similar result was seen for the “alternative news media.” Within that media grouping, only 21% said they had either “a lot of trust” (6%) or “quite a bit of trust” (15%), while 70% said they had only “little trust” (49%) or “no trust” (21%). Another 9% answered “not sure.”

No one — no one — thinks Hamas will do anything other than what it always does. And what it did on Oct. 7. The music concert massacre. The murders of civilians from babies in cradles to grandmothers. The rapes. The mutilation and burning of bodies. The beheadings. The hostage-taking of civilians, including 20 children, one of them in a wheelchair. The use of Palestinians as human shields.

No one expects Hamas to obey civilization’s standard for conducting warfare. No one even thinks of calling on Hamas to do so.

But it’s a different case with the Jewish state. Israel is getting a lot of, what’s the right word — advice, guidance, cautions, veiled warnings? — whatever the word, Israel is hearing from various corners about its conduct of the war against Hamas.
